All agree that international collaboration is important for ITS research research, development and deployment. To promote international collaboration, under ITS-related bi-lateral collaboration ITS related bi lateral agreements among USDOT/RITA, MLIT/Road Bureau, and EC DG INFSO, other regions may be included and invited as observers. Trilateral collaboration research areas identified include international standardization and evaluation tools and methods. Other Oth areas of importance include probe d t and environmental fi t i l d b data d i t l issues/sustainability . As a next step EU-Japan-US governments will establish shared step, common goals and governance, criteria for success, and a time-line for international collaboration.
