MOTIVATIONAL FACTORS TO BECOME A LEADER OF A SOCIAL ORGANISATION

Motivation is the force that makes us do things. This is a result of our individual needs being satisfied so that we have inspiration to complete a task. These needs vary from person to person as everybody has their individual needs to motivate themselves. Depending on how motivated we are, it may further determine the effort we put into our work and therefore increase the standard of the output. My goal is to become the leader of XXXX society at Udayana Universitas. My main motivation is to gain trust and acceptance of my peers in the society. I would like to set an example by exhibiting good leadership qualities. This in turn will motivate the members to work together to improve the overall performance of the society. Being an extremely forward thinking person, I would be able to bring new ideas and goals to propel the society towards new heights. I would like to have more activities that benefit people and have a greater outreach. Another motivational factor is that being a leader of this group will give me a sense of responsibility. I will be able to take charge and ensure that all activities carried out are in accordance to the rules and regulations. I will also make sure that all members are given equal opportunities to participate in events organised by the society. Being idle is something that I dislike very much. I am motivated to lead this society because it will fill my time with useful work such as planning activities, attending meetings and keeping the society active. This can be quite time consuming but I really like challenges. Being a society leader will be also good for my self esteem. I will be very proud to be a good leader who is able work well as a team and also lead the group successfully. I believe that a good leader will earn the respect and goodwill of his team. When a society functions well and produces good work, we will be accepted and recognised by others. All of us have the potential to be good leaders. In many, this potential is not fully realised due to shyness, not being given the opportunity or unwillingness to do extra work. I want to be a leader so that I can achieve my full potential to become

a competent and successful leader. I would like to be role model to others and be able to motivate others to explore their full potential too. Finally the factor that motivates me the most to become a leader is self improvement and personal development. By becoming the person responsible of an organisation, we can learn many things about planning, human behaviour, communication and relationships. I feel that I can become a better person both intellectually as well as emotionally by taking on a leadership role. I believe that whatever our motivations are for wanting to lead a society or organisation, what is important is that we do the job well. It is important to shoulder the responsibility seriously and carry out the job to the best of our ability.
