A SIMPLE ANALYSIS ON GR-BLOCKED AND BLOCKED STOCK BY SAPSCN MEMBERS AND ME.

GR Block stock will only come into picture if your client says that when ever they receive stock, before quality and physical check it should not create any accounting document..So what you will do is, you will receive stock as block stock with mvt 103...Once Check is done you will release your block stock with 105.... Say for an e.g. Vendor has supplied you goods in your premises...Same time you have noticed that goods are damaged or are of poor quality or Quality certificate is missing ...So you will post the stock as GR block stock...So once you post as a block stock, there won't be any accounting documents generated.... Block stock will come into picture...Say while production, User founds few material damaged, so they will post those materials in Block stock....Here accounting entries will come into picture...To transfer from block to Unrestricted..Use Mvt 343..

GR blocked stock is stock that you do not own and hence not valuated. It is not really a stock status like blocked stock. Receiving into GR blocked stock is done via movement type 103 and is primarily used when you have received material that you do not want to take of ownership of (a material document is created but NO accounting document is created). The reasons for not taking ownership could be different - Eg. Vendor has delivered more items than you ordered or has delivered items that you did not order. You don't want to take ownership of this excess or stock items that you did not order. So, you receive the material into GR blocked stock. - Eg. Vendor delivers material that you do not accept for quality reasons(defective/damaged items or items that you suspect might be damaged). Again, you don't want to see these items on your books and you don't want to pay the invoice for these items. So, you recieve into GR blocked stock.

- Eg. Receiving into GR blocked stock is a standard conditional receipt process for certain items, followed by quality inspection and based on the decision, the GR blocked stock is released to normal stock with the appropriate stock status (using mvt type 105).
Gr Blocked Stock :

Gr blocked stock is a stock which we accept it on conditional basis. Suppose you order a material for which quality check certificate is not received along with the material. So you put the material in Gr blocked stock using movement type 103. When the certificate is received and accepted you can valuate the stock with movement type 105. When you post gr blocked stock against a purchase order, with movement type 103 purchase order history gets updated but the quantity to be delivered still remains opens. Gr blocked stock can be seen at plant level in transaction MMBE.

When you receive materials from vendor, for example.... Visual inspection tells you that packaging is damaged.... You would use, 103 - GR into GR Blocked Stock What happens, then? GR blocked stock posts a transaction in inventory which shows some receipt took place in the system for a PO from vendor....However, it will not be valuated...Meaning, No accounting transaction takes place....in short, ownership still is not transferred to you....In such a situation, you can still see the stock status as the GR qty into "GR Blocked Stock" bucket....Nothing to pay to vendor otherwise, no liability is created in your books. If everything is OK, and if vendor fixes the issue, you might accept it by transferring to own stock using 105...so, in short, 101 itself canbe processed in two steps using 103 and 105. I

Blocked Stock : Blocked stock goods are always valuated , they are entered in MIGO with general transaction movement type 101. To put a material in blocked stock the indicator should be activated in material master record. When you create a purchase order against the material the indicator will automatically comply in purchase order. You can check the blocked stock at storage location level in Transaction MMBE. Blocked stock is not available from material planning point of view. You cannot issue the material from blocked stock until to transfer it to unrestricted stock type with movement type 343.Blocked stock can only be withdrawn for sampling or scrapping purposes.

The main difference between gr blocked stock and blocked stock is gr blocked stock means the material liability lies with the vendor where as for the blocked stock material liability lies with the company. For ex:

The vehicle has met with an accident while shipping the material from the vendor then you wil post the stock in gr blocked stock because you dont have a clear idea whether you can accept the material or not. where as blocked stock means the stock of the material is with you for a long time and you dont know whether the material charctiristics are same or not a s per the ussage then you will transfer the material to blocked stock (After inspection if it was ok then you will post to un restricted stock or else to scrap).

A SIMPLE EXAMPLE FROM ME:

IF I WENT TO SHOP TO BUY EGGS: I PLACED AN ORDER FOR 10 EGGS (say in short P.Oin /nmmbe on order stock) Now the retailer has given me 9 eggs good + 1 brocken egg (on seeing I rejected at the same time ..thus non vauated i.e. GR BLOCKED) Thus here 9 eggs are valuated(unrestricted in /nmmbe). But still my need of 10 eggs as per my order not full filled (hence on order stock 1 appear .check /nmmbe). 1 what I rejected at store is non valuated and still appear in /nmmbe as GR BLOCKED ,also one balance egg in order(appear as ON ORDER STOCK in /nmmbe).

PLEASE NOTE:

WHEN YOU WILL DO MIGO FOR GRBLOCKED MATERIAL AND CHECK STOCK OVERVIEW i.e. /NMMBE. Material in ORDER STOCK WILL BE EQUAL TO GR BLOCKED AND BOTH WILL APPEAR..as because of GR blocked that requirement is not fulfilled and hence appeared in on order stock.

HOPE IT WILL BE HELP FULL..
