A Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in Science Intended for Grade 6 I.

Objectives In 60 minutes period, the pupils are expected to: Identify ways on transforming energy. Present examples of transformation of energy. Practice healthy lifestyle and be aware of the things around them.

II. Subject Matter Transformation of Energy Reference: Discovering Science 6 p. 153-155 by Gloria G. Salandanan and Natividad A. del Prado Exploring Science 6, p. 152 p. 152 by Leodencio T. Obra and Reny C. Obra Materials: Picture of a man that shows his transformation from being fat to physically fit, visual aids, flashlight Science Concepts: Law of Conservation of Energy- energy cannot be created nor destroyed. It may be transformed from one form into another, but the total amount of energy never changes. Transformation of Energy- is the process of changing energy from one form to another. Science Processes: Observing, describing, identifying, and investigating. Value Integration: Active participation and awareness of oneself and the surroundings. III. Procedure A. Review 1. What is energy? 2. What is the SI unit for energy? Direction: Unscramble the letters of each word using the provided clues to know the form of energy.

- Energy produced when chemical substances react with one another. - Energy that enables object to do work. - a kind of energy produces by vibrating bodies. - is the most useful form of energy in our lives. - energy of electromagnetic wave. - energy that comes from either splitting or combining particles from the nucleus of an atom. - the total kinetic energy of atoms and molecules that are constantly in motion.

- show a picture of a food, a fat man eating, working out and sweating. Let the students arrange the following pictures. Question: - How can the fat man become physically fit or healthy? C. Presentation/ Discussion - Using the pictures, the students will identify the topic for the day. Questions: 1. What form of energy is stored in the following: a. food b. working out c. sweating 2. Are these forms of energy present all at the same time? Why or why not? - The students will tell how energy is transformed by identifying what happened. - The teacher will then show another example using a flashlight. The students will be the one to tell the transformation of energy but prior to that, the teacher will briefly explain the law of conservation of energy. D. Generalization - The teacher will guide the students in formulating the generalization.

I learned that _______________________________. E. Application - The class is divided into four groups. Each group will draw their examples for their given category and describe its transformation of energy. a. Appliances use for cooking b. Devices/ Gadgets c. Transportation d. Appliances use for entertainment.

IV. Evaluation The following are some electrical appliances/ devices used at home. Into what form/s of energy are each one converted? 1. Doorbell 2. Oven toaster 3. Electric fan 4. Flat iron 5. Radio 6. Hair dryer 7. Washing Machine 8. Bulb 9. Lamp 10. Blender V. Agreement 1. Define and describe the following: a. Conduction b. Convection c. Radiation
