Recce: Short Film Locations Include: Road (Pavement) Hollow Ponds House Side Roads Hallways (within house)

In order to get a feel for the location and to envision the way we want our short film (Disposable Options) to look, we visited Hollow ponds where one of the scenes in out movie would be taking place. This gave us an idea of where to place the camera and the cast in order to get the perfect shot, In addition it allowed us to find the spot which matches the scene we planned in out storyboard.

As you can see in the image shown here the area is very well lit during the day with many trees surrounding the area this could reduce the amount of glare on the camera when we are recording the scene in this area which allows us to make the clip look more professional. In this scene the actor will be standing near the pond facing the water this will be shot with a medium, long shot in order to show the background of the pond. The land around the pond allows us to record from many different angles and distances this will allow us to vary the shots used as well as to avoid potential hazards that may arise. This path that is shown here can be used to start the scene that will take place in Hollow Ponds, this will show the back of the actor walking into the distance, then the camera will fade into another shot where the actor arrives at the pond. The lighting in this area can vary during the day which could cause an issue when filming in order to avoid this problem we have to plan a specific time of day when the lighting is at its best to film this clip so our clip can be easily viewed by the audience.

A location we have chosen to use is a side road, this road remains deserted and empty throughout most of the days because it is a side road, this will be helpful because it can help portray the loneliness and regret we want to bring across in the opening scene

In addition, since this road remains empty for the majority of the day it allows us to film without any distractions or without disrupting the shooting of our videos and the public to allow people to get past allowing the audience to keep focus on the actors instead of the actions that are taking place in the background of the shots.

The lighting in this area is perfect for the atmosphere we are trying to create as some of the light is usually blocked by houses which creates a gloomy atmosphere which will enhance what is being felt by the main character. Furthermore, the background noise would be significantly reduced since this area is quite which allows for dialogue to be heard optimally as well as reducing the need for us to edit the sound later when the footage is being edited.

Within this location and scene, as the main character is progressing down this road we will be using a long shot and an slashing shot from behind the main character.

As this scene continues the camera angle will then change to a point of view shot to add a realistic feel to the film, this shot will remain until the main character enters his friends house.

When the main character reaches the halfway point we will change the camera view to a long shot, but it will be positioned from at the front of the character.

In the beginning of this scene a long shot will be used to establish the location of this short and will be used to introduce the scene to the audience.

This scene will take place inside the friends house. In this scene the main character will find the door opened and slowly enter the house. This scene will be a continuation of the last scene where the main character will be opening the door and then the character will then lock the door and look for his friend.

In this scene the actor will walk through the door, this will be a recorded using a medium shot so the character body language can be caught. Furthermore, we will maintain medium shot as the main character walks past the towards the camera and then past it.

The lighting in this location could be an issue as the hallway is very badly lit due to the door blocking most of the sunlight . To counter this we will have to record in during the day so the hallway has more sunlight. This will be essential as we need the audience to see the events taking place in this scene and we want to maintain a professional image when recording this film.

This will be the central location where the film takes place. The main protagonist and the dead body (Zain) will be in this room and this is where the body is discovered and where the ideas to dispose of the body are written down.

The lighting is also a problem as it can prove to either be too dark at times and too light at times. To counter this constantly fluctuating lighting, we will utilise the blinds on the windows to lower the lighting in this location so that the scene can be recorder effectively with minimum glare being generated due to the light.

This will be where the body will be placed. The table will be removed and will be replaced with a red mat to symbolise death. The body will be viewed mainly using high angle shots to connote a sense of weakness and fragility to the audience

On the other hand when lighting is too dim we will use the lights in the room to increase the lighting so that the scene recorder is not too dark resulting in an unclear scene. This could cause continuity errors if reordered on separate days so e will need to cut the light bulb out of the scene when recording.

A medium shot will be used to show the main protagonist when he is writing his notepad thinking of ideas on how to dispose of the body.
