Click OK. The text F:\PROBE should now be in the Location box If all is well click OK A window titled PCB project wizard now appears, make sure that Enabled project simulation is not selected and click next. Another window titled PCB project wizard now appears. You will now be asked to select the libraries that you wish to include. These libraries contain information about various components. Click on CAPSYM.OLB, which will highlight it and then click ADD. CAPSYM.OLB should now have moved into the Use these libraries box. Using the same procedure, add the following libraries. Amplifier.olb Connector.olb Discrete.olb misc.olb MiscLinear.olb opamp.olb Transistor.olb Check that you now have these EIGHT libraries in the right hand Use these libraries box Click on Finish OrCAD now creates some project files on your homespace. v6.0 1 stuart birchall ken duty

A window labelled Schematic 1:page 1 should open. If necessary, maximise this window by clicking on the middle of the boxes in the top right corner.

Refer to the back page of the handout and complete the diagram as follows.

Type Header 4 Place J1 (Header 4/connector) Type Cap NP Place C1(Cap NP/Discrete) Type SW SPDT Place SW1(SW SPDT/Discrete) Type LM339 Place (U1A&U1B) Add one more LED and place it. When placing the components, do not butt them end to end, but leave a gap to connect with wires. You now need to connect the components to complete the circuit. To reposition components, Left click and hold in the centre of the required part, and drag it to the required area. Adding wires Select the Place menu Select wire and left click Position the cursor where you want to begin the wire and left click. Move the cursor to draw the wire To change direction left click once To end the wire, position it on a part or another wire and left click. Using the above procedure continue until you have completed the diagram. Right click and select end wire on the pop up menu. To add the power symbols, select Place menu. Select Power and left click. Select GND/CAPSYM and left click. Click OK. As with the place component, the Ground symbol is now attached to the end of the cursor. Place the three symbols as in the diagram. Connect as necessary. All the components should be labelled (R1, R2, D1 etc) as in the diagram. If they are not, double click on the incorrect text and correct the value in the window that appears Although you now have the correct schematic symbols on the circuit diagram the software does not know the physical dimension of these components.
