Section 6: power control

PART 1 Introduction

This practice on equipment includes the operations on traffic statistics console. Before this practice, the trainees should have the preparatory knowledge on: The hardware structure and the working principle of BSS system. Operation of all the BSC consoles. Knowledge of data management and dynamic data configuration. The hardware structure and the working principle of BSC multi-module system Basic understanding about how to use the Windows OS. GSM basic principle Basic understanding about how to use the Windows OS

Preparation

Before this practice on equipment, the following conditions on laboratory must be BSC hardware system is running normally BAM and local WS software had been installed on each workstation The whole OMC network is OK BTS hardware system is running normally

PART 3

Objectives

After the completion of this practice on equipment, the trainees will be able to: To master the differences between the power control Generation I and generation II To configure one set of data of the power control Generation I and generation II, respectively

teaching Method and Schedule

This exercise can be completed in 6 hours, i.e., three hours for theory learning and 3 hours for computer practice.

PART 5
First Lecture

Operation Guide

The first lecture is a theoretical one focused on the explanation by the teacher, which can be completed in 3 class hours.Learn related knowledge according to the lecture progresslecture progress, then try or answer the following questions and test yourself according to the key points.

Second Lecture
1. What are the fundamental differences between the generation I and II power control?

2. Select two cells in the test environment, one configured with the generation I power control data, and the othre configured with the generation II power control data. Load the data and try set up a call in these two cells respectively, and observe the effect of the power control. 3. Dynamically modify the objective data of power control level and quality for the two cells respectively. See if the power control satisfies the requirement. 4. What attention should be paid to the power control target level and the handover level? In combination with the handover, demonstrate the toggle handover between two cells caused by the unreasonable setting of power control parameters.
