SEAM ALLOWANCES & OTHER INFO Seam allowances are 5/8" or 1.5cm wdeep. All seams are sewn right sides together unless otherwise stated. Skills needed include: attaching a pocket; inserting a zipper; making & inserting a strap. ABOUT THIS STYLE This wristlet is a simple pyramid shape, with an optioinal interior pocket. It is suitable for all manner of fabrics, but make sure you use a supple interfacing. Don't bother making a muslin for this (as if you would!) but we do recommend that you pin the pattern together before you start cutting your fabric, just to see how it goes together.

SUGGESTED FABRIC CUTTING LAYOUT lay the fabric open for this layout.

yes, you do get a lot of wastage with this one... why not make two, and give one as a gift?

SUGGESTED LINING CUTTING LAYOUT lay the lining open for this layout.

FABRIC & NOTIONS REQUIRED You'll need around 3/4 yard/ 69 cm each of 60"/150cm wide fabric, lining & interfacing. To complete the bag, you'll need a 7" or 18cm zipper; a 7" or 18cm square of tapestry canvas or similar is optional for stiffening the bottom of the wristlet. You'll also find a glue-stick very, very useful. Prepare the lining cell phone pocket...turn the 3atop edge of this pocket under 5/8" and stitch this hem down, then press the remaining 3 edges under 5/8".

Interface all the fabric pieces of your wristlet.

3b
Prepare the wrist strap: finish one long edge with overlocking if you wish, then fold the strap into thirds along the foldlines as marked on the pattern.

Following the notches on the pocket, pleat the bottom edge of the pocket, then stitch the bottom and side edges of the pocket onto the lining, following the stitchlines indicated on the pattern...thwe pocket will be upside-down, and it should look like this:

Topstitch along both edges, then fold in half and baste the ends together.

Right sides together, stitch the lining to the bag fabric along the zipper opening stitchlines...they're marked on the pattern with dashed lines; you'll use teeny-tiny seam allowances for this! Slit this opening down the center, then clip the seams at the bottom corners, press the seams open and turn the lining inside the bag piece. Press flat.

5b Baste the strap to the top edges of the zipper opening,

so it looks like this:

4b

Center the zipper behind the zipper opening slit... you may find it easier to use a few tiny dabs of glue to just hold the zipper in place. Topstitch the zipper into place.

6a

Join the sides of the pyramid, making sure that you pivot your needle at the top of the pyramid, then clip the seams, press open & turn the pyramid out to the right side...unless you have houdini-like powers, you'll probably need to undo the zipper to do this!

5a

If you are using a piece of stiffening on the bottom, center it up on the wrong side of the lining; once again, your trusty glue stick will come in handy here! Wrong sides together, baste the lining & fabric together around all the edges. If you wish, finish the raw edges with a zig-zag stitch, an overlocker or bias binding.

6b

pull the wrist strap out through the opning at the top of the pyramid...and you're as done as you can be!
