Primary injection test

1. Discharge the feeder first. 2. Note down the details of substation and feeder, CT ratio and relay setting 3. Ensure that the actuation of the particular relay does not affect other relays or feeders. 4. Short buses of R & Y phases at one side of CT. 5. Connect the probes of test kit across R & Y phases at the other end of CT. 6. Open the relay cover at the front panel. 7. Apply 50% of the CT rated current with primary injection test kit 8. Measure the current at the relay terminals, ammeters and confirm the CT ratio according to the wiring connection and note down the values in the check list. 9. Repeat the procedures from 3 to 8 for other combination of phases also. 10. Apply 20% of current setting to R phase CT alone and measure the current at the relay terminal and ammeter and confirm the ratio, notedown the observations in the check list. 11. Apply 20% of current setting to B & Y phases CT alone and measure the current at the relay terminal and ammeter and confirm the ratio, notedown the observations in the check list. 12. Clean the relay casing 13. Replace the relay cover 14. Remove the current probes 15. Ensure that tools are removed and box up the panel door

Secondary injection test

Remove the relay from the casing Note down the relay details like sl.no, plug setting and time setting in the check list. Apply 200% of CT current setting to the relay and note down the relay operating time and confirm it with the time as per the graph. Apply 400 % , 60% , 800% and 1000% of the current setting to the relay and note down the relay operating time, confirm it with the time as per the graph Apply 200 % of the relay setting for each plug setting of the relay and note down the operating time of the relay. The operating time for all the plug settings must be equal Apply 90 % of the rated current to the relay and slowly raise the current and observe the disc pick current. The pick up current must be between 105% and 130% of the relay setting Check the IR value of the relay, check the tightness of the terminals and contacts condition Normalize the relay setting and TMS setting Replace the relay in the casing and push back the cover Return the permit

Secondary injection to directional o/c relays

Remove the relay from the casing Note down the details like sl. No and plug setting and time setting in the check list Apply 200 % of current setting to the relay and note down the relay operating time Confirm it with the time as per the graph Apply 400%, 600%, 800% and 1000% of the current setting to the relay and note down the relay operating time. Confirm it with the time as per the graph Apply 200% of the relay setting for each plug setting of the relay and note down the operating time of the relay. The operating time for all the plugsetting must be equal Apply 90% of the rated current to the relay and slowly raise the current and observe the disc pick up current The pick up current must be between 105 % and 130 % or the relay setting Observe the current dir for each of the above check up and ensure the operation of directional also Check the ir. Value , check the tightness of the relay terminals and contacts condition Normalize the relay setting and tms setting Replace the relay in the casing and push back the cover. Return the permit
