DEPARTURE ABIDJAN:
Within 12 hours prior to departure the tests prescribed by SOLAS ch. V, Reg. 26 must be carried out. Depending of the pilot boarding time, the O.O.W. should make all checks and tests according to check lists no. 4 and prepare 'Shore to Ship' / 'Ship to Shore' / 'Pilot Card' and 'Steering' information cards. Tidal Streams: During High Water tidal streams at the entrance to Vridi Canal can reach 6 kts. Vessels may only enter or leave when streams are under 2 kts. DENSITY: Varies from 1025 in January to 1000 in November. Charts: BA 3101, 3103 TIME: UTC Vridi Canal entrance power cables overhead clearance: min. 25.7m (at HW)

ARRIVAL LOME:
Within 12 hours prior to arrival the tests prescribed by SOLAS ch. V, Reg. 26 must be carried out. Depending of the pilot boarding time, the O.O.W. should make all checks and tests according to check lists no. 4 and prepare 'Shore to Ship' / 'Ship to Shore' / 'Pilot Card' and 'Steering' information cards. 2 Hours before arrival call Lome Port Control in vhf ch. 16, 14, 12 and update ETA APPROACHES: By night, the approach to the port is assisted by the following four lights: Lome Light: In position Lat. 0608' N, Long. 00115' E, on top of the big water tower in the village between Lome City and the harbour. Baguida Light: In position Lat. 0609.5' N, Long. 0119.5' E, occ. White and red. Light 2.5 secs occ. 0.5 secs period 3 secs vis. 17 nautical miles. The red light sector covers the breakwater as well as the old Lome Wharf in position Lat. 06 07' N, Long. 00113.5' E. Lome Port Entrance: On the head of the main breakwater a red tower is situated in position Lat. 06 08' N, Long. 00117.5' E. . On the head of the counter-breakwater a green tower is situated in position Lat. 0608.2' N, Long. 00117.4' E. Tidal range: 0.90 1.50 m. Nature of bottom: sand Restrictions: berthing and unberthing at any stage of the tide; berthing during daylight hours only, unberthing anytime. Pilots are compulsory for all ships of more than 300 g.r.t. ANCHORAGES: Vessels waiting for Pilot or berth should anchor approximately 0.5 1.0 nautical miles south to SSW of the main breakwater, red sector of Baguida light in 15m, where good holding ground (sand) is obtained.
