How they started? Started with a mandate to procure green energy Found that Indian regulations does not support & rather levy charges to switch to green energy Going out of state grid & getting power from other sources meant serious premium & administrative hurdles
Their approach-Changing Policy? Realizing the regulatory issue, instead taking easy route of paying premium & becoming carbon neutral, we chose to work on regulation Presented our paper explaining Issues and Opportunities in Green Power to regulators at Central & State levels
What they achieved? Succeeded in persuading Karnataka regulators for removing cross subsidy Green power now is cheaper than Grid power. Started trial at Mysore campus for 600,000 units of hydro power.
The Road Ahead... Based on these developments, they have initiated the process of increasing our power mix from renewable energy.
