Introduction

This packet includes information about how to apply and register for the University of Michigan's Camp Davis Rocky Mountain Field Station in Jackson, Wyoming and contains the Application Form. To attend Camp Davis, you will need to do the following: 1. Submit the application forms with a $50 deposit before May 1st, 2013 2. Submit an unofficial academic transcript with your application. 4. Students seeking fin-aid must submit a copy of their latest award notice. 3. Receive acceptance confirmation and override to register 4. Register for the course via Wolverine Access. 5. Pay tuition and fees directly to the U of M Student Financial Operation.

Tuition & Fee Payment


Tuition and course fees will be billed through Student Financial Operations. You will receive a tuition/fee bill from the University mid June, 2013 for the summer term . Tuition bills will be sent via email. Credit hours for each course are as follows: Earth 116: 5 credits Earth 202: 4 credits Earth 341: 5 credits Earth 344: 3 credits Earth 440: 5 credits Earth 441: 1 credits AmCult 354: 3 credits Need based financial aid is available through the Office of Financial Aid and the Dept. of E&ES for U of M students only. Students seeking aid through the Fin-Aid office should contact them directly at 734-763-6600. Students seeking aid through the Dept. of E&ES must fill out and submit the form below by April 1st, 2013. Since you may be in Wyoming when the tuition bill arrives, be sure to make arrangements for payment before you leave town. If you are planning to use funds already in your student account, the Registrar's Office will automatically collect the tuition as usual. Application
The Application Form should be filled out completely and submitted via e-mail or U.S. Mail. Deposits can be submitted via check or money order and made payable to the University of Michigan. Deposits will be applied toward your course fees. Submit an unofficial copy of your high school or college transcript via e-mail or U.S. Mail. Course Fees
The Department of E&ES substantially supplements the course fees for all students taking Camp Davis courses with funds donated by Alumni and by Shell Oil Company. We hope to be able to sustain a similar level of financial assistance for students in years to come, but the allocation and amount of aid may vary from year to year. Course fees include: 1. Transportation from Ann Arbor to Jackson, Wyoming 2. Daily transportation to and from various field locations 3. Lodging while at Camp Davis 4. Camping fees while traveling 5. All meals while at Camp Davis and on academic excursions Meals while traveling to and from Camp Davis are not included. The application and course fee deadline for all courses is May 1st, 2013. Late application/registration is possible up until the first day of class , if space is available. Course fees do not cover tuition. Course fees for the 2013 season are:

Registration

Current U of M students

Once we've received and processed your application and deposit we'll enter permission for you to register via Wolverine Access. Please note that courses at Camp Davis must be taken for a letter grade and cannot be taken pass/fail.

New incoming U of M students

The Department of E&ES will register all incoming first-year students for summer term courses; they will also arrange to have your matriculation date changed to the summer term instead of the fall term. You will receive an invitation from the Office of New Student Programs (ONSP) to register for a fall term orientation session, during which you will select your fall term courses. Non-U of M guest students

Guest students will be required to fill out a temporary Guest Student Application. Upon acceptance into the program, this application will be sent you you via email. This document is used to admit you officially to the University of Michigan. We will arrange to have you registered for the course.

Application Part III


The Dept. of EES has limited funds for grants-in-aid for University of Michigan students enrolling in Earth 116, 202, 341, 344 and 440 this summer. Guest students are not currently eligible. This aid can be used to help pay for Camp Davis tuition, but not Camp Davis course fees. Grants will be awarded on the basis of financial need and academic excellence. The financial aid application deadline is April 1, 2013. Applicants must have a current FAFSA and/or Applicant Data Form (ADF) on file with the financial aid office to be eligible. Application Part V
We ask that all students with valid and clean driving records act as drivers for the Camp Davis mini-vans. At least two selected drivers will be riding with each van at all times. Drivers assigned to each vehicle will alternate every two to three hours while driving en route. Please consider doing this, as we always need van drivers. Courses with less than two valid drivers per vehicle may have to be cancelled. Driving records will be checked. 33. The University of Michigan's Camp Davis field program is an exciting learning opportunity, but can also be personally challenging. Therefore, before participating in the program it is important that you read the Camp Davis Information Guide and understand and agree to abide by the Camp Davis rules, goals and standards. Although Camp Davis has taken precautions to provide the proper organization, supervision, instruction, and equipment for each course, it is impossible to guarantee absolute safety. While it is the aim of the program to provide you with an, educational and safe experience, you must realize that there is a degree of risk and personal responsibility for safety when you participate in any of the Camp Davis courses. Camp Davis courses can at times be physically challenging. Because of high altitudes and moderate hiking in remote areas over rough terrain good to excellent physical conditioning is important for a successful summer. By consenting to participation in Camp Davis you assume responsibility for your own safety and needs during the program and for all risks, including the possibility of illness and serious injury. Signing this form indicates that you understand your responsibilities and that you release the University of Michigan, Camp Davis and its employees and agents from all claims and liabilities for injury or damage arising from your participation in the field program.
