Who Is Christina Merkley?


Hi. Im Christina Merkley . Most people know me as The SHIFT-IT Coach because for years Ive helped people just like you SHIFT Your Life for the better. I work in a special little niche Ive coined as Graphic Coaching which means I literally DRAW my clients desires out of them!. I have a rare and unique background as both a visual facilitation expert (over 600+ meetings in corporate, government and not-for profit settings) and as a Coach and Law of Attraction teacher two methodologies that weave beautifully together. In this Special Report , my gift to you, you are going to experience these two extremely powerful methodologies for yourself and you are going to experience a shift in your energy about your life no matter what shape it is presently in. Whats the IT YOU Want to SHIFT?!

Different people have different things that they want to SHIFT in life. Some people are doing well in their business or professional life, but want to shift their personal realm. Others are the opposite: theyve got their personal life in order but their professional sides could use some focus. People come to SHIFT-IT work, like they come to most coaching work, when they are experiencing some level of angst or dissatisfaction. It might be in the area of money, prosperity or abundance. Or, in the area of health, body or fitness. Or in their desire to create better relationships or more satisfying and creative work for themselves. Whatever it is, there is a desire to have more, be more, or change your life in some way. Often its a combination of ITS: many things are coming together to form a chronic, perhaps low grade sense of unhappiness or boredom. And, in other cases, dramatic events have culminated in an intense need and desire to make shifts and make em quick! THE FOCUS ON ME MAP: One Step Of The Shift-It Graphic Coaching Process
The tool you are about to use is part of a larger structure called the SHIFT-IT Graphic Coaching Process . SHIFT-IT is my seven-stage process to assist individuals in doing their own personal visioning and planning work. There are 17 visual templates in the process (called Merkley Maps). These tools can be used in order, or separately to supplement other coaching or personal growth work. The Focus on Me exercise that you are about to do, is part of the Investigate Your Now stage of the larger process.

Why Graphics?
As discussed, SHIFT-IT is a visual based process made up of 17 graphic templates. As a consultant, facilitator and coach, Ive come to appreciate the many benefits of working visually --and have gone so far as to develop the SHIFT-IT Process around this effective way of working.

I have been exposed to a lot of techniques and approaches over my career and I have made a very conscious decision to primarily work in the graphic facilitation medium. Ive made this decision because working graphically is so effective. Brain researchers and learning specialists have identified that different people learn in different ways (called learning styles). A learning style is the manner in which a person best receives and processes information. Most learners fall within one of more of the following styles: Auditory, Visual or Tactile.

Auditory: Auditory learners receive information best by listening; they tend to learn best during lecture and audio-based instruction. Visual: Visual learners tend to learn better when a variety of visual aids, such as blackboards, overhead projectors, and films, are used during instruction. They often use imagery to learn complex subjects. Tactile: Tactile learners prefer to learn by doing. They usually learn best when they are allowed to use their hands and sense of touch to learn new information and apply new skills. An extension of this style is a kinesthetic learning style. Kinesthetic learners enjoy not only using their hands in the learning process but benefit from all types of physical movement while learning.

Visual Learners Tend To Prefer Books Or Videos, Tend To Speak Quickly And Somewhat High Pitched, Stare Up When They Are Thinking And Use Language Like I See What You Mean. In The Us, 60-72% Of The Population Prefers To Learn This Way. Auditory Learners Tend To Prefer Speeches, Discussions, Tapes, Tend To Speak Slowly And Quietly, Stare Straight Ahead When They Are Thinking, And Use Language Like I Can Hear What You Are Saying. They Make Up 12-18% Of The Population. Finally, Kinesthetic (Tactile) Learners Tend To Prefer To Try Something First, Speak Quickly And With Great Changes In Intonation And Body Language, Stare Down When Thinking, And Use Language Like I Get It. Across The General Population, 18-30%.

The Majority of Us Are Visual Learners:


As the quote above demonstrates, the majority of the population, up to 72%, is estimated to be visual learners! Followed by kinesthetic/tactile and then auditory learners. This means that the majority of people learn best when some sort of visuals, graphics or shapes are used:

The Visual Learner (the observer):


Scans everything; wants to see things; enjoy visual stimuli Store visual images and good at recalling visual images Enjoys shapes, colors, patterns, maps, pictures, diagrams Can recall words after seeing them a few times Not pleased with lectures

The beauty of SHIFT-IT and its graphic templates is that not only does it benefit visual learners (the majority of us) it also benefits kinesthetic (tactile) learners (by writing and filling the templates out), and even auditory learners (if you share your work with others by talking, showing and explaining your maps to them).

The Tactile-Kinesthetic Learner:


A toucher / hugger In touch with self and feelings Needs to touch, handle, and manipulate materials, especially while studying or listening Good at drawing designs Often doodles while listening

The Auditory Learner (the listener)


Prefers lectures to reading assignments Good at remembering oral directions / instructions even if they are written down Likes to listen to stories, poems, music and tapes. Seldom takes notes or writes things down Often repeats what has just been said, talks

The SHIFT-IT maps, while attractive and fun to use, are also deceptively simple learning tools that benefit ALL the types of learners. So much more user friendly than the majority of typical coaching methods, which are almost exclusively auditory (the smallest group in the whole population!).

And, the SHIFT-IT tools also use both sides of the brain (both logical and creative), as they incorporate both visuals and words. Resulting in a product that works for everyone and how they most easily receive and process information!

There Has Been A Great Deal Of Research Done On Brain Dominance, Which Includes Right And Left-brain Behaviors. Your Left-brains Job Is Words, Language, Analysis, Order, Logic, Numbers And Sequence. Your Right Brains Job Is Music, Rhythm, Imagination, And Patterns, Challenging Mental Models, Appreciation And Synthesis. Different People Prefer To Reside Predominantly On Different Sides The Real Power Comes From Combining The Two, When The Right And Left Brain Are Combined, The Most Long-term Learning Occurs.

LAW OF ATTRACTION INFLUENCES:


Embedded in SHIFT-IT are several universal principles that I guide my work and life by, particularly the Law of Attraction. In order to manifest an improved, better feeling future it is my belief that one must first envision the changes they want and allow them. The trick is to truly SENSE and FEEL what it is you want --- basically touch in and take on the vibration of that particular essence (before you have it). Feel yourself in it. Swim around in that experience in your mind. Take on the stance, attitude and posture of having and being in that new realm. Recalibrate or SHIFT your vibration so that it matches what you want, as opposed to what you dont want. So you become a vibrational match to it and attract it into your experience. SHIFT-IT (and this Focus on Me Map that you are about to do) is very much a linear or rational process. However, it also has a non-linear and non-rational side to it as well (intuitive and even spiritual). A balance or marriage if you will of both the left and right sides of your brain and being. My understanding of what is really occurring in good personal visioning and planning work stepped up a whole level when I learned Law of Attraction principles. I give a huge shout out to the inspirational and practical work of my favorite LOA authors and teachers, Jerry and Esther Hicks and The Teachings of Abraham www.abraham-hicks.com Their work is phenomenal and I am very grateful for all I have learned from them over the years and how their wisdom has impacted me in my own life and what I have witnessed in the lives of my clients.

LETS GET TO IT: TIME TO COMPLETE YOUR FOCUS ON ME MAP

PURPOSE OF MAP:
To determine how satisfied you currently are in the eight major areas of life. To gauge which areas of life are currently working for you and which areas are not. To identify the main areas where improvement is desired; and begin to identify what you want from here!

DESCRIPTION:
Great, now you have a sense of the overall context of this work. Now without further adieu, lets dive into the actual Focus on Me tool, which is the meat of this Special Report. A tool that is going to help you identify and begin your own SHIFT! If you look at the Focus on Me graphic, it actually looks like a large set of eye glasses or binoculars. Through this map you will literally look at yourself and your present circumstances and it can also be used in another way (which Ill tell you about later). This map helps you SEE what areas of your life are currently satisfying to you and which arent, in a very visual, tangible way. Cause in order to SHIFT your life, you first need to accurately SEE what you are starting with!

Dissatisfaction Is a Natural Manifestation Process My SHIFT-IT Graphic Coaching Process (which Focus on Me is a part of), is a seven stage coaching process that expertly guides you through own personal manifestation process. The first stage of the process is called Satisfaction Interrupted its the first S in SHIFT-IT as the name is an acronym.

In your first use of the Focus on Me map you are identifying where your particular satisfaction is interrupted in your life right now.

Dissatisfaction (as you will come to understand and appreciate) is a wonderful thing. Through dissatisfaction you get very clear what isnt working with you and if you harvest that properly, you will learn to FLIP that dissatisfaction and identify from it what it is that you really do want.

Jerry and Esther Hicks of Abraham-Hicks, call this process contrast and rockets of desire. Through the contrast of your life you get clear about what you do want from here and launch rockets of desire out in front of you (pre-paving the way for future manifestations).

This manifestation process (dissatisfaction-rocket of desire of new want-manifestation of new want) is an ongoing, ever evolving thing. Its the nature of life. The nature of evolution. We never really get there its a process as opposed to a destination. Knowing that can sometimes take the sting out of dissatisfaction --- accepting dissatisfaction and reframing it as a natural and good part of life.

Whats YOUR Satisfaction Look Like?


What does YOUR overall satisfaction in life look like? What is currently working for you and what is not? Noticing where you are satisfied and where you are not leads to greater self-inquiry and awareness. Use your dissatisfaction as the guidance that it is its telling you things arent quite right in your world and is giving you hints about what shifts need to be made. Listen to your dissatisfaction your inner guidance is communicating with you! Rating the Eight Main Areas Of Life: This template breaks life into a model of eight distinct areas. The purpose of the Focus on Me map is for you to rate your satisfaction level in these eight areas of life, on a scale of one to ten (with one being very low satisfaction and 10 being very high satisfaction). What, currently, is your state of satisfaction in each of these areas? Some of these areas you will probably be pretty high and others may be low. For example, you may be really satisfied with your health but feel low on your physical environment. Or, like some entrepreneurial clients, you may be really satisfied with the state of career/business and finances, but are realizing that health and personal relationships arent what youd like them to be. Find out what your own unique blend of satisfied and dissatisfied areas of life are by completing the Focus on Me Map.

STEP 1: CREATE YOUR INNER WORK ZONE:
First off, Im not termed a Graphic Coach for nothin I am going to get you to use the actual Focus on Me map that is included in this booklet (see last few pages). Dont worry, you will not have to draw (unless you want to) the drawing is all done for you. However you will need to add in your own specific content as we work through the tool. Basic handwriting or printing will do (as messy as you like as you are the only one who is going to have to read it, unless you want to eventually share it with someone else).

Print Two Focus on Me Maps:


As preparation for our work, please print off two copies of the Focus on Me map you can print in it black in white or go full color (come on, you are worth it!). The full page maps (designed to print off landscape sideways) are at the back of the e-workbook.

Set Aside 30-60 Minutes:


This work is deep and special. In essence, you are conducting a mini SHIFT-IT Retreat by following this e-workbook. As such, I recommend you create a quiet zone for yourself, so you have a bit of you time to think and feel your way through these two exercises. It should take you somewhere between 30-60 minutes to complete them (depending on how quickly you process).

Minimize Your Distractions:


Shut the door, turn off the phone, kick the kids (or employees!) out of your space. Its important that you slow down just a bit so you can really notice your thoughts and feelings as you do this important work. A little bit of vibrational alignment work can go a long, long way. And that is what you are doing with this map you are aligning your vibration. Again, dont worry, its not going to hurt. In fact, Im betting on you really, really liking it. ;)

Satisfaction Not Existence or Amount / Volume:


Remember when you do this exercise that you are identifying your levels of satisfaction, not whether or not you have something in your life or what volume of it you have in your life. You might have nothing in one area, and be perfectly satisfied with that so your satisfaction score would be very high despite the non-existence of what you are measuring. For example, you might not have a primary relationship (romantic partner), and you could be 100% satisfied with that. Or, you might have what some consider scarce financial resources, but are perfectly satisfied with the state of finances in your life. Same goes for fun and recreation. Or family and friends. Or any of the eight categories of life categories. It is not if you have them. Or to what extent you have them. Only how satisfied you currently are about the state of these things currently in your life. Right now.

How to Mark Your Scores: The Satisfaction Scale and Vote Box:
Before you begin your scoring process, it is helpful to know how to mark them.

Score Each Section:


With each area of life you will consider your satisfaction level in that area and decide upon a number (1-10) that represents it. With a score of 1 being low satisfaction (very dissatisfied) and a score of 10 being high satisfaction (very satisfied). A score of 5 is medium satisfaction. There Is A Little Box In Each Life Area. Record Your Score In The Box For That Section. Record Score

Shading the Circle Wedge:


After scoring each area, color in the circular scale (in the center of each loop). This scale has markings to guide you. By coloring in this scale, you will get a visual representation of your score. After you complete all eight areas, it will become very clear which areas are your lowest and therefore require the most of your attention moving forward.

Define health in the fullest sense of the word: physical, mental and emotional. Do You Exercise? How Fit Are You? How Is Your Relationship To Your Body? How Satisfied Are You With Your Weight And Physique? Any Illnesses Or Conditions? How Is Your Outlook On Life Overall? How Is Your Energy Level? Your Mood? How Comfortable Do You Feel In Your Skin? Movement? Flexibility? Stamina? Activity? Sensuality? Sexuality?

This is an easy exercise to do to quickly see where you are in life. Do several of them over time. See how your satisfaction level shifts and morphs. See what happens with your low areas: are they chronically low or do they fluctuate or improve over time? Is your coaching work or other self-creation work having an effect? Notice how you develop satisfaction in one area, only to have another area dip down. That is natural. It is the nature of life. You are never done. It doesnt stay static. Be light with this. Gentle. A Focus on Me Map from a self-employed American woman in her fifties: while Fun & Recreation, Career and Personal Development were ranked high in satisfaction, her lower scores were in Family and Health. After stepping back and looking at her rankings she realized Im really unbalanced and It is a sad contrast between how I feel about my friends versus my family (friends being so much higher on the satisfaction scale). And recognitions about her emphasis on leadership and involvement taking a toll on her overall health and well-being.

YOUVE COMPLETED YOUR FOCUS ON ME MAP NOW WHAT?! Further Recommended Resources and Next Steps
If you have fully completed your Focus on Me map, you should have a pretty darn good idea of where you currently stand. You can LITERALLY SEE which areas of your life are satisfying you and which arent. Very valuable information! Even this simple act of listing out your current state can bring relief and get your SHIFT-IT ball rolling. Sometimes just seeing things as they really, truly are can be the inspiration you need to start doing something about it! Kind of like really looking in the mirror after a year (or years!) of not exercising or letting yourself go. What you see can really snap you into action - big time! Other people though take a look at where they are and just use it as an excuse to continue to feel depressed, powerless or overwhelmed. Stuck in their status quo with no real shift having occurred. If this is the case with you, then you need to not stop here you need to get your mind off of what is and onto what you want it to be. Use your now as a springboard to help you identify what you do want. Develop a vision of the life you really want to be living.

Second Application of the Focus on Me Map:


I have many different ways of helping my clients figure out what they want next and how to get there. A quick and dirty way to create a beginning Vision of what you next want is to use the Focus on Me map again --- but this time, instead of using it to gauge your reality fill it out like how you want your life to be --complete it like everything is already a 10! Or, if you are a person who thinks 10 out of 10 is unrealistic or something you just cant allow go for as high a score as possible (come on, stretch a little, its ok for you to at least make it a 9!).

Go to that second map I had you print out and spend some focused time writing down and envisioning what a nice plump score would look and feel like in each of these areas. What does a 10 in Health for you? A 10 in Fun and Recreation? Finances? Career? Etc. Work your way around the eight different areas and have fun imagining what a full score would be for you. And full scores right across the board.

Notice Your Reactions:


So what comes up for you when you do this? Can you just let loose and have fun with the dreaming? If you can, you should be able to really enjoy yourself with this. Having fun. Imagining. Dreaming. Going for it. Perhaps giggling away with what you come up with and getting your energy revving as you consider all of the different things that make you feel good and turn your crank so to speak. If so, that is what all this vibration stuff is about in Law of Attraction. You have just aligned yourself and gotten in the flow with things that really matter to you. There are lots of ways to get into this flow (Abraham-Hicks lately has been calling it going downstream) doing visioning and virtual reality work like this is just one of many ways to align your energy. But unfortunately I cant cram everything into one little ol Special Report. But what you have just done is a good beginning step! Trust me, you have just done very important inner work well done! Dont worry about the logical side of things right now. You know, the how and all of that. That comes later (in fact, when you line things up right in your mind, what almost instantly follows are some ideas about next steps this is called aligned action). To begin with, the most important thing you can do is to get into the flow of what feels good and fun to YOU get that coursing through your system.

Negative Reactions:
If you couldnt get into the dreaming of this and you had a hard time figuring out what a 10 would look in all or certain areas (or after dreaming a bit your mood came crashing down) well, I hate to break it to you, but you have a Trouble at the Border problem. For whatever reason (and there can be many) you are chocked up on your asking, dreaming and allowing abilities. I can guarantee that this is part of the reason you are dissatisfied with your life right now and are seeking out help.

Somehow you are going to have to give yourself permission to dream a little bit more and learn how to get more comfortable with what you desire. The answer is not to subdue or try to obliterate your wanting (some awareness paths preach this approach it doesnt really work - we are wanting beings and trying to shutting down your wanting is like trying to kill evolution). The better approach is to deal with your resistance and find ways through and around it. It can be done!

THOUGHTS TO LEAVE YOU WITH: Preserve Your Materials:


The Focus on Me work that you have done is important work. I invite you to preserve it somehow create a file folder for them, scan or laminate them or somehow otherwise preserve them. We have started a chain reaction in your system the work that you have done with these documents will percolate throughout your mind and life afterwards even if you are consciously aware of its influence. Do not be surprised when certain things that you focused on begin to show up and happen somehow. Its nice to keep your maps on hand so you can refer back to them when these sorts of synchronicities start happening.

Intuitions and Calls to Action:


Secondly, be aware of your urge to do things. When you start strategically mucking around with visioning like this it is not unusual for you to start to get sudden inspirations and inklings to take certain actions. You might feel the urge to call a certain person. Research something. Do something. This is in reaction to the visioning work you have done. Follow the breadcrumbs (so to speak) that start to emerge. Because of the work you have done with these tools, you are now aligned and open in at least a slightly different way than you were before you did them. So different ideas and guidance will now to available to you. Dont slough these ideas off. Follow them! Do them! Take Action!

Learn to Reach for the Better Feeling Thought:


Im not suggesting you become a Pollyanna overnight but learning to have a more positive attitude about your future and your ability to effect it is really going to serve you. I have already come out of the closet around my meta-physical beliefs around The Law of Attraction with you at the beginning of this booklet. LOA has experienced quite a bit of backlash recently with the more simplistic vehicles that are touting it due to the mainstream success of things like The Secret, etc. I would invite you to not throw out the baby with the bathwater. I think, if you are open to them, that learning more about Law of Attraction principles will really serve you. As stated, my favorite Law of Attraction teachers are Jerry and Esther Hicks, and the Teachings of Abraham. Again, I invite you to check out their website (I dont get any benefit from suggesting them to you I just love them and think their stuff is the best out there!). They have free resources available, including several downloadable mp3 files that are a good beginning place. I also recommend their DVD, The Secret Behind the Secret as a good starting place. Also, Ask and It Is Given is my favorite book by them chock full of processes you can do and be sure to learn how to work yourself up their emotional scale (its refreshingly not all about peace, love and granola sometimes anger is moving in the right direction!). http://www.abraham-hicks.com
