We are then to pursue actively the implementation of framed policies to ensure the benefits of mainstreaming the disabled persons.. So that all m.embers of our society enjoy the benefits fully &freely as membc]'s not only for our self help groups but also as member of the wider family of BISWA. In such a way the human rights of all our family members should be protected (Ind upheld. On the othe,' hand stigma and discrimination in any form must be eliminated. Since we all crave for inclusion, 50 the inclusion to be observed in every respect. BISWA has launched this new initiative to erzal>le people Who are HIVpositive or who have a disability to become members of its' SHGs. It is a shift from previous policies, under which such persons were excluded. Now we realize such exclusion is a deprivation and we must take care of it. We would like to "eiterute that it is a mere beginning and "we have miles to go be/ore we sleep". Such mainstreClming is the ultimate responsibility of we, NGOs, as the government may give a dictum in this field & the real doers are we. Moreover such mainstreaming would be the order of the day in the ensuing era, where deprivation in many afields are to be identified. A mega health camp was conducted by BISWA at Rukmini Lath Eal Nlketan (RLBN), Chhachanpali on November 13 th , 2008 on the occasion of 10 th death anniversary of Padmashree Prabhahati Devi, the founder of that orpha age. It evoked a large scale res onse by endorsing involvement of more then 400 participants. It was co-ordinated by Mr.S.P.Meher, Manager Public Relations & Dr.Rajaram Sadangi Asstant Manager, Health & other members of BISWA health camp team. In a shift: from previous policies under wInch such persons were excluded S Malic announced that the Governing Body and SeDlor Management of BTSWA endorsed this positive move towards greater mclusion. Coupled with tius tmtiatives District Co-ordinators aIe to collate and feed back to Head Office particulars of all disabled members of tbe families of SHG members. Further each District office is to establish 'trong working relationships with other NGOs work- ing in the DIStricts for people wbo are HIY positive and / or disabled, so that the network of BlSW affiliated NGO is extended to mdude those potential benefici.aries. This day is also known as the Legal Literacy Day. BISWA participated in it through about 50 women self help group members in the leadership of Sri Shiv Prasad Meber, Manager Public Relations. Speaking to tbe occasion, he said awareness among the women folk in India bas come in a big way these days. India is the only country in the World, where Women occupied its two top posts i.e. The President & Prime Minister. He apprec.iated the role of observation of such a day, where our women In large number could participate. He urged the authority to organise such awareness programmes City Devdopment Plan ] An Important meeting on "City Development Plan "was organized by Sambalpur Municipality Council (SMC) on NOV 6 TH , 2008 at its council hall.
