This is the loge represent our company. The Meaning GUSTOSO it tasty in Italian.The star represent how delicious the pizza and the red is our courage to make a new pizza.

Background of the company Gustoso Pizza was established 1994, when four of university student from Sungai Petani, Kedah, Zakaria Mohd Dom, Raja Akif, Khairul Adzarain and Farhan was making small business by selling pizza at the dorm named Kolej Malinja. After the large number of demand from their friends and lecturer, they come out the idea with opening small stall pizza at food court outside the campus. They used their loan money to buy second hand equipment and rented a small stall .After a year and a half, the business becoming big and well known. The recipe is getting better too.

Business Activity Gustoso Pizza is a casually dine-in restaurant. Family meals is the most popular among Malaysian. Moreover, dine-in restaurant concept provide a better atmosphere to develop such ties. Gustoso Pizza also cater take away as some of their more popular restaurants cannot meet the walk-in capacity. To meet intense competition in the fast food industry, the delivery concept as a service strategy was introduced to maintain and capture market share. Just one call away.

FUNCTIONAL STRUCTURE This is the most usual, widely used, logical and basic form of departmentalization. Gustoso Pizza used this department structure because this is the most simple and suitable for company policies and business. This department structure also referring as departmentalization by function. CEO and manager also have to do work and involved in marketing, delivery or even in production.

To ensure that Gustoso Pizza having good relationships with customer. Recognize excellence at every level of the business. To help in creating job opportunities. Strategic Goals We want to ensure that we have a regular customer long term.We want to increase the number of the customer in term of dining-in, take away and delivery. With the increase of costomer , the income will also increase.

Team work to drive action versus activity. We promoting healthy debate and healhty decisions. We make specific verbal contracts to get big things done with urgency and excellence

Tactical Goals We focus on freshness and quality of the product. Restaurant manager (RM) is responsible to discard the expired product such as pizza topping, sauce dough and many more. RM also must accurate the order of the stock so that monthly budget are consistence. Customer satisfaction is our main priority.

Tactical Plan Procedures are the main key to produce quality product. We insure that standards and procedures are follows by managers and employees (restaurant crew). Procedure in making pizza and service are strictly enforce by higher level of manager.

Operational Goals Finance departments: To maintain our finance based on the budget allocation of the company.

Human resource: To hire a quality restaurant managers and assistant managers.

S-Specific: The goal of our company is specific and and focused on only one goal.

M-Measurable: The goal of our company can be easily measured by the top managers to assure that the company is on the right track.

A-Achievable: We set a goal that can be achieved by everyone of the employees in the company. R-Result oriented: Our companys goals are a result-oriented to measure the work rate of the employees in the company.

T-Time related: Our goal is time related so we can achieve our goals on time.

REAINFORCEMENT APPROACH Positive reinforcement Give positive and rewarding to restaurant crew for a desire behavior. Negative reinforcement Punishment against restaurant crew who undesirable behavior. Extinction Promote high level of manager and take back their position for an undesirable behavior. Punishment Punish restaurant crew if they did not follow instruction or procedure to make them behave in good way.

Path-goal theory

Gustoso Pizza uses the path-goal theory for our leadership concept. According to this theory, it is the leaders job to help the followers in achieving goals and provide the necessary direction and support. So, president himself also has to assist our employees and make sure that they enjoy working at our company. This will make our goals easier to achieve because our employees enjoy their work. SUPPORTIVE LEADER Leader must be friendly and shows concern for the needs ofrestaurant crew. In order to make that happen, every month we will give a reward to the best leader that most friendly and most concern to our crew. DIRECTIVE LEADER According to this theory, the employees are need to know what the leader want from them, schedules work to be done, and give specific guidance to accomplish task. Our company are avoiding this type of leader styles to ensure that our employees are not feel pressure and stress. PARTICIPATIVE LEADER We have a group-decision making between restaurant crew in order to listen to their suggestion before making a decision and the leader will participate in all of the meetings. This will help come out with a good quality solution. ACHIEVEMENT-ORIENTED LEADER We also set challenging goals and expect restaurant crew to perform at their highest level. It makes restaurant crew work harder in order to achieve our companys goal.

Controlling Approach

Controlling is very important to Gustoso Pizza. Firstly is to adapt to environment change. Controlling can help managers to anticipate, monitor and respond to change. Besides that, the purpose of control is to limit the accumulation of error. Control can reduce small mistake to recur. Other than that, the importance of control is cope with organizational complexity. Control is helpful for Gustoso Pizza with complex structure, complicated organizational design. Last but not least, control can minimize cost. When control is practiced effectively, it can reduce cost and boost output. Following are the type of controlling in Gustoso Pizza

Pre-action control Focus on preventing anticipated problems before they arise for example screening job applicants such as view their resume, have several interviews to choose high quality people.

Steering control Take place while work working process in progress. When managers or restaurant crew wrong doing, correct them immediately before it is too late.

Corrective control Controlling take place after an action is completed. If there any problem this type of control is taken and applied to future activities.

Communication Style

Gustoso Pizza used several type of communication. Include formal and informal. Gustoso Pizza widely use formal type of communication because we believe that the more effective communication, the faster and accurate information are received by our staff members. Indirectly, company can save more time as the time is very important in business.

Interpersonal communication in formal and informal situation:

Oral or spoken Gustoso Pizza uses this type of communication to discuss and face to face. Telephone is the most important to Gustoso Pizza because of the delivery and and take away services.

Written communication Gustoso Pizza uses this type of communication to send letters from branch to other branch. Besides that, written communication is used to write policy manual to restaurant crew. By provide policy manual, restaurant crew will follow the policy and procedure. Last but not least, written communication is used to write monthly report to the main branch.

Technological communication Nowdays, the technology are widely used in the company. Gustoso Pizza used technology communication such as internet. Internet is used to send e mails from upper levels of manager to lower managers. Besides that, mobile phone are important to communicate with customers.

Conclusions

As a conclusion, we learn how hard is it when to open an pizza company. We also learn on how to manage the restaurant. In addition, we know the functions of a manager and how to be a good manager. In the discussion group, we have learned about the basic of management in food industry that is planning, organizing, leading and controlling. We also study about motivation. In planning we learn on how to create a goals when opening an organization or company, how to setting goals and ways to achieve those goals. In organizing, we learn about how to make and organizational structure. In leading, we learn about how to make employees feel enjoy to work in our company and how to a good and responsible leader. We also learn about how to manage the restaurant pizza.
