CON-CREAR
A new system for additive manufacturing

Con-crear project aims to advance and contribute in the ongoing research of additive manufacturing finally revealing new potentialities. The innate materials behavior is studied and informed in order to liberate architecture from preconceived forms and sterile formal explorations while the construction process is completely visible to the outcome. In Concrear the material can be deposited accrording to certain parameters optimizing in the end the material system. Additive manufacturing has been associated with layering in horizontal axis, a fact that reveals the great chance of exploring vertical extrusion, differentiating in this way completely how architecture looks like. The result of this manufacturing is concrete structures that no other method would achieve. Con-Crear seeks to take further the already established technology and research of 3DCP and on-site constructions, proposing in the end a highly innovative system that will remain accessible and realisable. So, by liberating the structure of the known constraints like molds and scaffolds but embedding others which derive from the materials properties and the rules of nature (on top of all, the gravity), how much further can we go?

The panel is composed of two identical parts which have three different screw places. This allows a variety of sizes of the panel and a variety of lights penetration. Summing up , this versatile size leads to a more flexible approach to facades design.
