Notable Incidents for Week ending March 17, 2013

Incident: Burglary/Theft I.R. #: 2013-05769 Date: March 13, 2013 Location: Sussex Avenue Summary of Incident: On Wednesday, March 13, 2013 Morris Township officers responded to a Sussex Avenue business on a reported theft from a motor vehicle. The victim reported that sometime during the overnight hours someone had smashed out a side window of a 1999 Dodge Dakota. After gaining entry to the vehicle, several items were removed to include a wallet, cash, a car stereo, and a GPS unit. Residents are reminded not to leave valuables in their vehicles and to secure them when leaving them outside. If possible, park in a well lit area or in an area covered by a motion light. Residents are asked to immediately report any suspicious activity to the police by dialing 9-1-1. Additional crime prevention tips can be reviewed at www.crimepreventiontips.org.

Incident: DWI I.R. #: 2013-06050 Date: March 15, 2013 Location: Mt. Kemble Avenue (SR 202) Summary of Incident: On Friday, March 15, 2013 at 02:27 am, Ptl. Brian Markt stopped a black Jeep for allegedly traveling at 30 mph in a 45 mph zone. Upon making contact with the driver, Sara Kimball of Basking Ridge probable cause was developed to believe she was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. After she was taken into custody, she was transported to Police HQ. The defendant was charged with DWI, Reckless driving, and Obstructing the passage of other vehicles. Incident: Motor Vehicle Crash/DWI I.R. #: 2013-06053/13-6055 Date: March 16, 2013 Location: Frederick Place Summary of Incident: On Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 3:50 am, Morris Township officers responded to a Frederick Place residence to document a hit and run collision. Upon arrival Sgt. Martin Tessmer, Ptl. Diego Pinheiro, and Ptl. Brian Markt found the caller, Henri Linden intoxicated. Linden advised the officers that his vehicle was the victim of a hit and run collision which occurred in Morristown. Further investigation found the collision had taken place up the street from his house where the passenger side mirror he reported missing was located next to a mailbox that had been struck. Probable cause to believe Linden was operating the vehicle while intoxicated was found and he was arrested for drunk driving. After he was taken into custody he was transported to Police HQ. Linden was charged with Filing a false police report, DWI, Reckless driving, Careless driving, Leaving the scene of accident, and Failure to report an accident. Incident: Burglary to MV/Theft/Criminal Mischief I.R. #: 2013-06129 Date: March 17, 2013 Location: Westin Hotel, 2 Whippany Road Summary of Incident: On Sunday, March 17, 2013 Morris Township officers responded to the Westin Hotel on a report of several cars that had been burglarized. Upon arrival, patrols found three BMWs and one Lexus had been vandalized. Entry into two vehicles was gained and one of the vehicles had all four tires/rims taken. Morris Township Detectives and members of the Morris County Sheriffs Departments Special Services Division responded to the scene. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between 4:00 am and 8:00 am. The investigation is similar to several incidents which took place in Morristown during the same time frame. Detectives from both agencies are working jointly in an effort to identify the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call the Morris Township Detective Bureau at 973-326-7480.

Incident: DWI I.R. #: 2013-06148 Date: March 17, 2013 Location: Kitchell Road Summary of Incident: On Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 5:21 pm, Ptl. Robert Hydock stopped a 2004 Mitsubishi operated by Carmine Detore of Madison, NJ for a speeding violation. Probable cause was developed to believe he was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. After he was taken into custody, he was transported to Police HQ. The defendant was charged with DWI, Careless driving, and Speeding. When he completed processing, he was released pending a future date in Municipal Court. Suspect/Defendant: Name: Carmine Detore SEX: F Age: 65 Town: Madison, NJ
