With the celebrauon of Palm Sunday we enter into the

holiest week of the Churchs year as we walk with
Jesus from his triumphant entrance into Jerusalem,
through his betrayal and condemnauon, to his death
on the crossand his resurrecuon. This week, on
which we embark today, sits at the very centre of who
we are and what we are about.

As Ive menuoned before there can be a tendency
among some Chrisuans to focus almost exclusively on
the crossbut as we all know thats only half the
story. Without the cross there could be no
resurrecuon; without the resurrecuon, the cross is
merely a statesponsored execuuon.

As we walk through Holy Week in the shadow of the
cross lets be aware that the cause of that shadow is
not only the cross but also the glory of the
resurrecuon that we will celebrate at the end of this
Holy Week.

May your journey through Holy Week be a prayerful
one.

The custom of having Mass oered for various
intenuons is a venerable one, and certainly one
worthy of conunuauon.

Church law requires that I keep a record of all Mass
oerings that are received in the Parish, and I would
seek your assistance in helping me to comply with this
by placing any oerings in an envelope, with the
intenuon (who, why, what etc) clearly wriuen on the
outside the envelope.

Your assistance in this regard would be greatly
appreciated. Fr Andrew

Responsorial Psalm
Response: My God, my God, why have you
abandoned me?

All who see me deride me.
They curl their lips, they toss their heads.
He trusted in the Lord, let him save him;
let him release him if this is his friend.

Many dogs have surrounded me,
a band of the wicked beset me.
They tear holes in my hands and my feet.
I can count every one of my bones.

They divide my clothing among them.
They cast lots for my robe.
O Lord, do not leave me alone,
my strength, make haste to help me!

I will tell of your name to my brethren
and praise you where they are assembled.
You who fear the Lord give him praise;
all sons of Jacob, give him glory.
Revere him, Israels sons.

Gospel Acclamaon
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ, king of endless glory!
Christ became obedient for us even to death,
dying on the cross.
Therefore God raised him on high
and gave him a name above all other names.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ, king of endless glory!

So that we might receive Communion in a t and
proper way, please be aware of the following:

When we process forward to receive Communion,
we are asked by the Australian Bishops to adopt a
common and unied gesture of reverence before
doing so. In Australia that gesture is a bow of the
head and shoulders (GIRM, 160). Any other form of
reverence, including a genuecuon, should be
avoided.
Communion by selfinuncuon is never permiued,
since we receive Communion and never take
Communion. Please refrain from this inappropriate
acuon.
We regret that we do not have the physical
faciliues to oer communion while kneeling, and
would respecuully ask you to refrain from kneeling
to receive Communion while in procession, since
this is contrary to the nature of the Communion
procession. Your cooperauon with this request is
very much appreciated.
