Background
Literacy, culture and technology have played an important role in educational world. In many Asian countries, the challenges of literacy and technology are formidable. Technology has transformed many parts of our lives and gives the opportunity to engage, support and challenge us in and out the classroom. To address the issues, Perhimpunan Baca Tulis Masyarakat (PBTM) Indonesia PBTM in coordination with International Reading Association (IRA) hosted 2013 Asian Literacy Conference under the theme Literacy, Culture and Technology : From Local to Global Perspective. This conference explores approaches, issues and questions relate to literacy, culture and technology-related language teaching. It is expected that the conference will be of a valuable opportunity for participants to share ideas and exchange views and opinions on literacy and language education.
