University UTSAV (South Asian Organization) 2012-2013 Annual Elections

The Northeastern University UTSAV (South Asian Organization) is led by the following executive board positions: President(s) Vice President(s) Treasurer Secretary Cultural Chair(s) Public Relations Chair(s) Webmaster Freshman Representative [Spring Semester Only] Being part of the UTSAV Executive Board requires a significant time commitment, strong leadership skills, constant dedication, and a no-slacker attitude. UTSAV has become one of the largest and most respected student organizations on campus, and your participation should reflect your dedication to the group. Students previously on the UTSAV Executive Board cannot run for the same position again. Students may submit applications for up to two positions, in the event that they are not elected for their primary choice. For example, a student running for Treasurer as their primary position may also run for Public Relations Chair, in the event that he or she is not elected as Treasurer. In this scenario, please be prepared to interview for both positions, as well as prepare speeches for both positions. **Please only run for a position if you feel you will be able to truly dedicate time and energy to the advancement of the group. ** 1. Application Process Each applicant must fill out the required application that pertains to his or her position. He or she must also submit their personal resume along as part of their application. All applications and resumes must be emailed to nuutsav@gmail.com before Monday, April 1, 2013 at 10:00 PM. No extensions will be granted. Incomplete or late application will NOT be accepted. 2. Interview Process Once all applications have been received, each applicant must attend a 10-minute interview with the current Executive Board. Please be prepared to answer questions about your qualifications, past experience, etc. Interviews will take place on either Monday, April 8, 2013 or Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 8:00PM - 10PM. After all interviews have taken place, the Executive Board will review the candidates and select up to three (3) people to be on the ballot for each position. If you are not selected by the current Executive Board to be on the ballot, you cannot run for that position.

 3. Election Process All candidates on the ballot will be required to give a 1-2 minute speech on their qualifications and why they deserve to be on the Executive Board during our Senior Banquet & Elections, to be held on Thursday, April 12, 2013. All candidates are required to answer questions that the audience may present following the speeches. The elections will begin with President and proceed to Vice President, Treasurer, etc. Votes will be counted after all the speeches and elections have concluded, and the informal results will be announced at the end of the night. The votes will be re-counted again the next day and the official results will be emailed out to everyone. 4. Training Process All current Executive Board members and new Executive Board members will be required to attend a Transition E-Board Meeting on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 6:00PM 8:00PM in 333 Curry Student Center. New Executive Board members will see how UTSAV E-Board meetings are operated and get a chance to become acquainted with each other, their position and responsibilities. New Executive Board members will also get exposure to running an event, since Holi will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 and they will be directly involved in planning it. Questions?
