STANDARDS BS $ 4254 $ 83 BS $ 5212 $ 90 TT $ S $ 00227E ! DESIGN CRITERIA Joints should be designed so that the total movement due to concrete shrinkage and thermal changes does not exceed the 25 % movement accommodation factor related to the joint width. The sealant depth should not exceed joint width. All joints subject to traffic shall be recessed 3 $ 5 mm below flush, so that during joint contraction, the sealant does not protrude above the surface. ! APPLICATION PROCEDURE 1.Joint preparation Joints should be very clean and dry. Remove all dust, dirt loose particles and contaminants. Wherever required a bond breaking tape should be used in prior to priming. 2. Priming Prime the joints and surface with Polyprime PPS primer. A single coat primer applied by brush, must be allowed to dry minimum period of 1 hour before applying Polyseal PPS. Polyseal PPS should be applied within 3 hours of application of primer, otherwise prime it again. MIXING AND APPLICATION OF POLYSEAL PPS Mix and use one complete kit at a time. Both components shall be thoroughly mixed. It is recommended to use an electric drill fitted with a paddle for mixing . Ensure that both the components are mixed evenly. Immediately after mixing, gun grade Polyseal PPS shall be loaded to sealant gun and applied to the joint. The pouring grade may be poured directly in to the horizontal joints, and level it properly. Deep joints should be filled in two or more runs to prevent air entrapment. ! FINISHING Once the sealant has been applied, a suitable rounded tool soaked in soapy water shall be used to compact the sealant into the joints and to achieve a smooth polished finish. Any masking tape applied should be removed before the sealant is cured. Note: Mixing and application tools shall be cleaned immediately after use. ! SHELF LIFE Up to 12 months in unopened containers kept away from sunlight and at a temperature less than 20C. ! HEALTH & SAFETY As with all chemical products, caution should always be exercised.
