Do you have an idea that you think would make a great movie, TV show or webisode, but have no idea

how to write a screenplay? It is not uncommon for people to have a screenplay idea, but have no clue where to start. Like many other skills in life, learning to write a solid screenplay takes a good amount of research, practice and repetition. The following are some things that you can do to help yourself learn: Read screenplays Understand the format of a screenplay Watch television shows and movies Study some of the most successful screenplay writers Come up with an idea for a screenplay Develop screenplay ideas through outlines and storyboards Tim Burton began his filmmaking career in the 1980s as an animation apprentice at Walt Disney Productions animation studio. His first short film, Vincent, was a six-minute black-and-white stop motion animation based on a poem of Burtons own creation. While working with Walt Disney Productions, Burton continued to develop his own style, informed by the horror and science fiction movies he enjoyed as a child, which eventually led to his termination. Tim Burton began making short films as a preteen, teaching himself stop-motion animation techniques and creating short silent films; he was influenced heavily by his childhood favorites, Dr. Seuss and Roald Dahl. After being fired from Disney for the 1984 short film Frankenweenie, Burton came to the attention of Paul Reubens, who chose the fledgling film maker to direct the film spin-off of Pee-Wee Herman. With the massive commercial success of the project, Burton was invited to work on more projects, including the dark comedy Beetlejuice and the big studio film Batman. Burton developed a reputation of using a small budget to create films that brought in high earnings, which gained him the attention of large studios ever-aware of the bottom line. In 1990, Burton worked on Edward Scissorhands, his first professional, full-length film project wherein he not only directed, but also wrote and produced. The film was even more successful than expected, and Burton would go on to write more films, including The Nightmare Before Christmas in 1993 and a full-length version of his short film Frankenweenie in 2012. Tim Burton is recognized for his uniquely dark and quirky style, particularly in the visual aspects of his projects. Films like Edward Scissorhands and the Batman projects relatively early in his career carried the stylistic attributes of contrasting light and dark elements. Thematically, Burtons films typically feature critical examination of frightening or distressing elements, for example the dangerous-looking protagonists who turn out to be utterly harmless, or loving individuals. Burton also makes frequent use of his beloved medium of stop-motion animation, reviving the art after it had long been out of style for films like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie. Considered a master of the art of stop-motion, Burton uses the medium to create visually interesting elements, as well as a particular sense of pace. Nostalgia features heavily as a theme in his work as well, and Burton has made several re-makes of classic films and television shows, along with including references to his childhood heroes. In his screenwriting, Burton has become known for his use of rhyme and poetry , most notably in works such as The Nightmare Before Christmas, though much of his dialogue is subtly infused with rhyme and meter that is more understated. Burtons attention towards the darker elements of life has painted him as a dark or brooding person, a reputation he has resisted, saying, I am not a dark person and I don't consider myself dark. and also commenting, I've always been misrepresented. You know, I could dress in a clown costume and laugh with the happy people but they'd still say I'm a dark personality. Tim Burton won an Emmy Award in 1990 for his work on the animated TV show Beetlejuice, and has been nominated for the Academy Award for Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie, and has received critical acclaim for his writing and directing skills for most of the projects hes done. In

2007, he was honored at the 64th Venice International Film Festival with the Golden Lion award for Lifetime Achievement, and has served as the president of the Cannes Film Festival. In 2010, he was knighted into The Order of the Arts and Letters by the Culture Minister of France.
