INTEGRATED TREATMENT SYSTEM for Frac Water Treatment

Download ITS pdf

System Overview
The patented ITS platform is founded on two main components: the Mobile Chemical Treatment (MCT) and Mobile Dissolved Air Flotation (MD) units. The MCT unit doses and mixes precision levels of chemistry to prepare flowback or produced water for physical separation in the Mobile DAF unit. The Mobile DAF unit combines aeration and skimming to remove solids from the water. The ITS platform is capable of processing up to 900gpm or about 31,000bbl/day of frac water. Take a look at the videos above and below to see the ITS in operation.

System Features
Rapid deployment and set-up/calibration Chemical feed controls Chemical mixing DAF Tank, metal piping, 304 Stainless Steel Secondary and tertiary aeration ports Removal of up to 99% of suspended solids

The Dilemma Surrounding Fracking

Hydraulic fracturing requires millions of gallons of water, and in places where water scarcity is already a cause for widespread concern, the increased demand for water in energy production only complicates the problem. On one side, oil and gas companies see a growing new business opportunity that creates desperately needed jobs in a struggling economy, and on the other side, the community sees increased drilling activity as both a potential blessing of economic opportunity and a curse that threatens public health and safety. So long as oil and gas companies continue to have access to water, the industry can look forward to a promising economic future. However, water has become the preeminent issue surrounding fracking. Environmental groups, on behalf of the community, have raised concern around the long-term risks associated with the practice of fracking, with water being at the fore-front of the conversation. The water used in fracking is generally extracted from underground aquifers or surface waterways. After it's used in the fracking process, the water is transported off-site to disposal wells, where it is injected deep into the earth, never again to become part of the water cycle. This process is effectively depleting fresh water resources, leaving communities at odds with oil and gas companies.

Frac Water Treatment Systems

Instead of hauling millions of gallons of untreated water to a disposal well, oil and gas producers can treat the water on-site and reuse it in the next series of wells. No matter which side you're on, fracking is a reality. The undue stress placed on communities and water resources can be resolved by properly treating frac flowback and produced water on-site with the ITS. Communities can enjoy the economic benefits of increased domestic energy production without worrying about the safety of their drinking water. The ITS resolves the concerns of both sides of the conversation.

What's in Frac Fluid?

Acid - dissolves minerals, initiates cracks in rock Friction Reducer - minimizes friction between fluid and piping Surfactant - increases viscosity of fluid Potassium Chloride (KCl) - creates brine carrier and prevents clay swelling Gelling Agent - thickens water and hold proppant in suspension

Scale/Corrosion Inhibitor - prevents scaling and corrosion deposits on piping pH Adjusting Agent - helps maintain effectiveness of chemicals Breaker - breaks emulsions Crosslinker - maintains fluid viscosity in high temperatures Iron Control - prevents metal oxides from plugging formation
