Gokarna is a small pilgrimage town on the coastal region of North Canara-Karnataka.Gokarna, meaning cow's ear in Sanskrit as the ear shape is formed by the confluence of two rivers to form the town. The place gets its

name from the local legend that Lord Shiva emerged from the ear of a cow. Gokarna is a town of contrasts as it a temple town and also a holiday destination. The place is full of palm and coconut trees. It is an attraction town with two main streets with shops and traditional tile roofed brick houses. The Car Street, which runs through the heart of the town, is a typical Pilgrim center, flanked by small business, Puja paraphernalia, souvenirs and food stuff. The maze of narrow lanes and alleys are reminders of tradition, which continues even today. Brahmin priests go about busily with their religious duties. A walk through the main street would not take more than twenty minutes. The town itself is full of locals and pilgrims, and doesn't have much in the way of facilities for tourists, other than a handful of guesthouses and local restaurants. Most foreign tourists come to stay on one of the 4 beaches just south of town. Kudlee Beach is the first, about a 20 minute walk, and they get more remote and less populated as you head south. Magoda Falls

Magod Falls is a waterfall in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. The waterfall lies deep in forest. The river Betdi(also called as Gangavalli) makes a 198m leap forming the Magod Falls. The falls goes dry during the summer months and misty during the monsoon season. There is a large lake on the way to Magod Falls known as Kavadikere.

Jog Falls

Jog Falls is the second-highest plunge waterfall in India, Located near Sagara, Shimoga District of Karnataka state, these segmented falls are a major tourist attraction. It is also called by alternative names of Gerusoppe falls, Gersoppa Falls and Jogada Gundi. Jog Falls is created by the Sharavathi River falling from a height of 253 m (830 ft), making it the second-highest plunge waterfall in India. Associated with the waterfall is the nearby Linganmakki Dam across river Sharavathi. The power station has been operational since 1948, and is of 120 MW capacities, one of the largest hydroelectric stations in India at that time and a small source of electric power for Karnataka now.

Murudeshwara

Murudeshwara is town in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. It lies on the coast of Arabian Sea. The attractions at this place are Statue of Lord Shiva a Hindu deity, Murudeshwara Temple, Murudeshwara Fort and Murudeshwara beach. The Statue of Lord Shiva at Murudeshwara is the tallest statue of Lord Shiva. The Statue is 37m high. The Murudeshwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple Gopura is twenty storied and the temple stands on Kandukagiri. Kandukagiri is surrounded on three sides by Arabian Sea. The Statue of Lord Shiva lies in the Temple premises. The Murudeshwara Fort was built by Tipu Sultan. The beach at Murudeshwara offer an excellent sunset view and plenty of water activities.

Idgunji Temple

Idagunji is a small place in Honnavara, Uttar Kannada district, which has the famous Vinayaka temple. The temple is the main attraction at Idagunji, receiving more than 1 million devotees per year. Idagunji, Ganapathi temple is an ancient temple with a history of more than 1500 years; it is a major tourist attraction in the Karavali coast of Karnataka, India. This place has got its own name for its beautiful idol of Lord Ganapathi. The importance of Edakunj kshetra has been mentioned in the Sahyadri khand of the Skandapuran. Eda (Wamnadi) means to the left and kunj means garden. The place thus got its name, as it is located on the left banks of the river Sharawati. This temple is a major piligrim spot which attracts more than 1 million devotees per year. The temple is midway between Gunavanteshwar and Murudeshwar and is 1/2 hr drive from either temple.

Sirsi Yana

Yana (Bhairavakshetra) is a famous adventure tourist place and also a pilgrim centre with unique rock formations. It is located in between thick evergreen forest of Western Ghats or Sahyadri mountain range valley. one has to trek a distance of about 2 km by foot amidst thick forest to reach Yana.The nearest road network to reach Yana is from Sirsi and the newly laid Sirsi to Yana road is best way to reach Yana. It is a popular rock climbing haunt. There are two huge rock formations amidst thick forest with a distance of around 100 meters between the two rock formations. The road to Yana has been relaid recently and it will be a soothing ride with glimse of thick evergreen forest ranges all along the road. The entire Yana mountain ranges are covered with green cover of trees will invite you to explore them. After trekking for 2km all of a sudden appears two gigantic peaks towering around all the forests and mountains, The Bhairaveshwara Shikhara and the Mohini Shikhara. These two shikharas are the ones, which have made Yana distinct from other regions in the Sahyadri and have captured the imagination of generations of people. These two peaks are one of the mysteries of the Mother Nature yet to revealed as to their existence here in the midst of forest terrain.
