Course objective With increasing international mobility and growing need to be fluent in more than one modern European language, the French language course aims at developing students speaking, listening, reading and writing skills for general and business purposes. It provides instruction and practice in written and oral French to develop awareness of issues related to communication between people with different national, ethnic and cultural background. Teaching and learning methods Instruction materials will include texts written for second language learners, articles from newspapers and magazines. Activities will include participation in role-plays and simulations, language exercises using video and audio input. Language and grammar work will be provided on a need to know basis to facilitate clear communication. Quality assurance Reflective teaching. Applying critical thinking skills. Regular group and individual feedback. Cheating prevention Students ethics standards are defined in the ISM Bachelor Studies Regulations. Students are required to behave in accordance with the requirements of the academic ethics. 1

The test covers all four language skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking) and contains vocabulary and language use items. Homework weigh 10% of the final mark. The students will have to individually produce a text based on the topics explained in class. These texts are to be handed in to and supervised by the teacher. The final exam is given at the end of the semester. It weighs 40 % of the final mark. It consists of listening, grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing tasks, covering topics of the whole course material. Re-take examination is taken by the students who do not get a pass mark at the end of the course. It is a test on the topics of the whole course and accounts for 60% of the mark. Role of the subject in reaching learning outcomes of Economics programme Special learning outcomes S1. To describe the main economic theories and theoretical models, to adapt them to the theoretical and practical issues (for example, demand and supply elasticity theory, economic cycles, classical economic theory, Keynesianism, monetarism, rational expectations theory, cost-benefit analysis); S2. To explain the link between economic theory and practice, to apply that knowledge in assessing statistical data and economic information on both micro- and macroeconomic level; S3. To describe and to analyze financial management and financial decision making processes in companies and other organizations, to solve problems of different levels of complexity in financial and management accounting ; S9.
