What did the Romans wear?


Roman ladies wore a long tunic that almost touched the floor.

Men wore togas when they wanted to look smart.

What did the Romans drink and eat?

Romans drank wine. Rich Romans served expensive and unusual food to show off.

Roman towns and homes.

Wealthy Romans lived in large detached houses made of stone or brick called villas.

The homes of wealthy Romans looked bare from the outside.

Why did Romans invade Britain? Julius Caesar fought against the Britons because the Britons kept helping Gauls fight the Romans.

Roman construction

Romans Aqueducts in Pont du Gard in southern France. The Romans built Hadrian's wall in Scotland. It took over six years to build it.

The Roman Army

The roman empire became very strong because it had a very good Army to help it conquer and later control all the other lands.

A Roman Soldier

The Roman soldier was a professional soldier. This means he would have joined the Roman army for twenty five years

Julius Caesar was born in 100bc. He was a great soldier.

Augusts proper name was Octavian. After Caesars death, he took over with two other men.

Boudicca

Boudicca became leader of the Iceni when her husband Prasutaus died. The Romans took his treasure and assaulted her and her daughters.

This is a place were gladiators would fight. It is called a amphitheatre .

This is a Christian church. Romans worshiped god in the church.


This is a roman bath house were people would get washed and have a swim .

This is a roman town house people lived in these houses if they were rich.

Romans fun and games


Roman plays were often at the roman theatre . A tragedy play would have a sad ending.

The two Roman games that they liked to watch the most were chariot racing and gladiators.

Roman schools

Rome didnt have any public

schools. Most children went to a


private school and some studied at home. The subjects were reading

,writing and arithmetic. In many


homes slaves taught the children. Before the age of fourteen they

learned Latin and Greek.

This is a Roman Mosaic . Mosaics were made of tiny stones. They were on the floor of their house .

Romans from all over

Some of these people might come from Gaul, Italy, Spain , Greece, North Africa or the middle east.

The romans invaded Britain in 43 BC and ruled it for almost 400 years. People from all over the Roman empire came, traded and live in Britain .

Why did the Romans leave Britain?

The Romans left Britain because there was trouble back in Italy. One after another officer from the Roman army stationed in Britain decided that they could make a better job of things if they were emperor .

Some roman girls would wear elaborated wigs.
Roman hairstyle changed constantly, one year it would be fashionable to have the hair piled high on your head. Next year the fashion was ringlets and so on.
