April 2013

Dear Friend, Greetings to you from everyone at the church. There are many things we can be thankful for as we see the end of winter and new life is coming forth! The Lord is doing great things among the people at church. A Christian woman recently told me that she hasn't gone to any church for most of her adult life but that when she came here she senses the presence of God and just loves it! She used to go to church out of guilt but it's different now: she can't wait to get to church! Now when she comes to the altar she gets so filled up with His presence she wants to come back for more! I have found that God has a keen interest in you, what you're going through, and how you are living. A lot of people don't like that but He is preparing us to one day make heaven our home. For many there is little commitment to anything godly. They come to church once a week for a service but keep their distance lest the Lord asks them to do something. That's called a servant. Jesus said this: Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you (John 15:15). Imagine that: the Lord Jesus calls His followers a friend! I have asked the Lord to be my friend. A friend will love at all times; good and bad. A friend will never leave you or forsake you. A friend will tell you if you're wrong from time to time. A friend will pray for you despite your short-comings. A friend will be friendly towards you. A friend is quick to forgive wrongs. A true friend will stick closer than a brother. Yes, to be a friend of Jesus is the greatest privilege a person can experience! Maybe you have a handle on dying and facing the Lord one day, but all I can say is that I am so glad I have a friend who will meet me when it is my time to cross that river! There is an account in the Bible that really touches me each time I read it. In Numbers12, God's friend Moses was spoken against for marrying an Ethiopian woman. His sister and brother didn't like it one bit! I believe they knew this was a wrong attitude but they tried to make their complaint sound spiritual. They said, Hath the Lord indeed spoken only by Moses? Hath He not spoken also by us? And the Lord heard it. Sometimes the reason people are critical is not because of what they tell you. There can be other reasons why people say and do wrong things. Numbers 12:3, Now the man Moses was very meek... He would not stand up for himself in this matter. But the Lord stood up for him! The

Lord told Aaron and Miriam that if there is a prophet He would reveal Himself to them in a vision or speak to them in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches: and the similitude of the Lord shall he behold: wherefore were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? It sure is nice to have the Lord as a friend! He took care of the situation and when He did everything turned out good. A lot of times when we try to fix things (especially things that aren't ours to handle) people's feelings are hurt and we make the problem bigger than necessary! But the Lord dealt with it. One thing the Lord said about Moses was that he was, ...faithful in all mine house. Moses cared for the things of God first and foremost. His spiritual guidance of the people was important to God. His care for the things of the ministry were his responsibility before God. No matter what was asked of him, Moses was faithful to God's house. It is rare to find a person faithful to the place God called them. A person who is totally committed to the work of the ministry will not be offended when things don't go their way. God said Moses was faithful in all His house. Wouldn't it be wonderful if that could be said about every Christian? Surrender your all to the Lord and His ministry. He will defend you and take you places in your walk with Him you never imagined you would go! He will see to it you are blessed and cared for, and He will meet all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. God also made a statement about His relationship with Moses. He said He would speak to Moses mouth to mouth. Moses would never have to ask himself if God really spoke to him or not: he would know! To learn the voice of God, what pleases Him, what doesn't; to understand His ways, to grasp His wisdom: these are things that only come to a person who is sold out to Christ, one who prays and takes the time to listen to what the Spirit is saying to the church. You can get as close to God as you want. Just give Him your will. May God bless you this month and please remember that we are praying for you. I invite you to our church.
