Summer Car Tyre List

This data has been reproduced with the kind permission of the Dutch Government, which commissioned the testing of tyres on wet grip, rolling resistance and noise. The test data was expanded at the end of 2010 with a significant amount of new test results. The new data for wet grip appeared to have a systematic difference compared to the earlier data, due to a difference in ambient conditions during the various measurement campaigns. In order to improve the mutual comparability, all data has been compensated for differences in ambient conditions. Tyres that were already on the list before end of 2010 now have a somewhat higher value for the wet grip in the updated list.

N.B - The wet grip index is calculated by comparing wet braking performance to a standard reference tyre (SRTT), which is set to 100%. If the tyre is performs better (shorter braking distance) then the SRRT, the score will be over 100%. The test is performed with a vehicle using maximum braking (ABS system active) while driving on a standardised wet road surface. As the SRTT was standardised long time ago and performance of tyres has improved over time, most wet grip results are now over 100%.
