Lily Festival on Ie Island. One million lilies that grow from 200,000 bulbs blanket a big park that measures 86,000 square meters on Ie Island, known as the flower island. Ie Island is located only 30 minutes by ferry from Motobu Port in northern Okinawa. With an increase in frequency of ferry runs during the festival, the island welcomes a large number of visitors every year.

Shwa Day (, Shwa no hi) is a Japanese annual holiday held on April 29. It honors the birthday of the Shwa Emperor (Hirohito), the reigning Emperor from 1926 to 1989. The purpose of the holiday is to encourage public reflection on the turbulent 63 years of Hirohito's reign.

Bring yen for your purchases. Kimono Wearing >Date & Time: 12 Apr, 0900-1100 >Where to meet: A&FRC Classroom A great way to learn how to put on a Kimono. Newcomers Island Excursion >Date & Time: 5 Apr, 1000 - 1500 >Where to meet: Schilling Community Center Explore the history, culture and customs of Okinawa on this free bus trip. Bring a snack lunch or yen for a light Japanese lunch and purchasing souvenirs. Registration required. Open to all ages.

If your family member is deploying, dont forget to fill out a Deployment Notification for School. When you have filled out the form, just drop it off at the A&FRC and we will get it to the schools.

Spouses are highly encouraged to attend Pre and Post Deployment Briefings? Pre Deployment Briefings are every Monday, 0830 at the A&FRC. Post Deployment Briefings are every Tuesday and Thursday, 0800 at Bldg: 721B.

You can get 5 free hours of childcare. Give Parents a Break is held every month in conjunction with the Deployed Spouses Dinner. Bring a copy of your spouses orders to the A&FRC to get your voucher.
