God Has A Plan For You We have probably all heard the saying before, I know Im somebody because

God doesnt make junk. I dont know where this quote came from, but its Biblical. I heard another quote this past week from a well-known preacher. The statement went something like this: You were on purpose. God has a purpose for you. In other words, you are not an accident or mistake. I dont know how many times Ive heard that and theres no more hurtful words in the world to a person than that. You were created for a purpose. In Genesis 1:26-27, God said, And let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. We are the crown of Gods creation! The psalmist exclaims, Yet Thou hast made him a little lower than God, And dost crown him with glory and majesty (Psalm 8:5). You cant get much higher on the chain of Gods creation than that. The psalmist also teaches us that we should give thanks to God for His marvelous creation of mankind. I will give thanks to Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Thy works, And my soul knows it very well (Psalm 139:14). Since Scripture teaches that God not only has a purpose for you, but what is that purpose? Gods purpose is not for us to fulfill our lives with selfish ambition. In Lukes account of Jesus parable of the sower (Luke 8:4-25), Jesus says the seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity (Luke 8:14). Notice here three earthly pursuits: worries (word for cares/anxieties), riches (i.e., money), and pleasures (our word for hedonism). These are not the things God has created us to pursue. Solomon said trying to find fulfillment in these earthly pursuits is like chasing after the wind (Ecclesiastes 1:14). What is Gods plan for us? Paul writes in Ephesians chapter two: For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them (Eph. 2:8-10). There you have it. God created us to pursue good works for Him. The labors we put forth, through our Christian light, is to bring honor to His name (Matthew 5:14-16). If you have not yet figured out Gods plan for you in your life, today is the day to begin. Either begin by submitting your will to His will and being buried into Christs death to have your sins forgiven (Romans 6:3-6), or returning to Him in prayer to be healed of your spiritual sickness (James 5:16). God has a purpose and a plan for you! Have you found that plan yet through Jesus? Randy Neal -
