Navel oranges are in good production in all production areas. Demand is increasing. Quality remains very good. Grapefruit and honey tangerines are still great buys with excellent quality out of Florida. Green and red leaf as well as boston lettuces are all in good supply and quality has improved in the desert regions, while the new crop from the Central San Joaquin Valley has helped to lower prices. Bok choy availability has improved with increased production in the Central California coastal districts. There are no issues this week with mesculin, baby spinach and arugula. What great salad adds for Spring! Yellow corn is looking really good in terms of high quality out of Florida. It is still a little high but worth considering.

Cantaloupe and honeydew melons are in huge demand now that spring vacations are in full swing and the quality is consistent with steady pricing. Watermelon production in Northern Mexico continues to increase and prices continue to ease. Red peppers have held steady in price for the last couple of weeks and yellow peppers are still in the 11 lb. pack from Mexico. Blueberries have rocketed up in a very active market. Chile is almost finished and Florida is the next source location. Prices out of Florida are very high right now. Iceberg lettuce production for both Yuma and Huron is improving slightly and demand has slowed due to the extremely high market last week. Yellow squash is very expensive out of Mexico and we are trying to work with Florida product now but supplies are short. Zucchini, on the other hand is a bargain, ironically. Jalapeno peppers are in very short supply this week.
