Andon The word comes from the Japanese andon which means traditional Japanese lantern lamp made of paper. Andon is a tool to eliminate waste in the application of lean manufacturing, and is a key element of quality control methods Jidoka. So it can be defined that Andon is a system that informs the problems that occurred on the track production to parts management, maintenance, and other workers. Fauzia Ruhimat Akbar (2009) says that, "andon system is the information in the form of alerts marked by a lit LED panel, which reads audio system, and the advent of information caused by damage to the PC system capable of monitoring production activities. In addition to information provided in the form of activities consisting of the production target, machine down time and process ". While Nurhidayati Dwiningsih, SE, MM, in his book STEKPI Operations Management (p. 177) argue that, "Andon is a sign to call the person as a sign of a problem that has been visualized in the form of light. The goal is to eliminate activities that do not add value and all forms of waste. " Tirta (2011) have expressed the opinion that the system is going to look at Andon is the central point on a board that combines the signal light to indicate the presence of a workstation that has a problem. Problems that arise in the production line can be: lack of raw materials, machine trouble, issue quality, and so on. The operator will press the button that connected micro slave on the problematic workstation, then micro slave will send a message to the application on the PC and forward to other PCs in the network computer or it could be to the address specified for the alarm micro slave. The alert can be activated manually by a worker using a button, or can be activated automatically by the production equipment itself. This system includes a way to stop production to fix the problem until a solution is found. In addition, alerts can be saved to the database through the program so that it can learn and fix the problem. Currently there are several alarm warning systems that combine audio, text, or screen. In 2008, Eris Kusnadi Andon system examines the application found on the Toyota production system. Application of Andon was applied to the production floor such as siren lights are yellow, green and red. The light is a signal to indicate that the unit was no problem and need help. The yellow light indicates lack of material in the process, a green light indicates the system is running normally, and a red light indicates the path to stop because there is a problem. When illuminated, yellow andon kanban operator will soon come to help to keep the process running. Besides Toyota, implementation of Andon system also has the writer found at the Astra Honda Motor in Indonesia. This system also uses in each section to identify the problem. Installation Andon used manually or automatically. Andon manual system uses in the work process using operators such as the assembly process, while automatic Andon used in automated machines such as die casting process, CED painting steel, and so on. In general, the function of Andon is the same, namely to show that if the track is going is going problems, shortage of certain parts, or run smoothly. In AHM in assembly section, Andon yellow when illuminated, the process will be stopped due to lack of components will affect the next production so that products are problematic types should be replaced with another type that keep it running smoothly to meet production targets. It was concluded that Andon is a practical tool in the application of Lean Manufacturing. Andon is a system that shows a visual warning that occurs due to a problem in the production of both the warning tracks manually or automatically, and can describe the problem. Along with the development of technology, communication tools detecting this problem is not just a light indicator, but it can be audio, displays, images and various other forms. A weakness of andon system is only to detect problems in the path and not been able to resolve the problems that occur on the track.
