HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 10-12; Luke 8:1-28 Monday, April 8 Phil. 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, Excellent Lord and King: Spiritual knowledge of you is a personal knowledge. My friends __________ and __________ cannot know you through my relationship and familiarity with you. They have to know you for themselves! Spiritual knowledge is still an intelligent knowledge. They must know you, and not just statements about you, have visions of you, or entertain mystical and mythical thoughts toward you. I pray they know you as the word of God reveals you! That I may know him (Phil. 3:10)! What does it mean? That they might know your nature, your attributes, your shame, and your glory. That they might meditate on you until they see you on the cross, high and lifted up for them. Spiritual knowledge of you is an affectionate knowledge. If they know you at all they must then love you. An ounce of heart knowledge will be worth a ton of head learning. Spiritual knowledge of you is a satisfying knowledge. They will feel like they found the very thing their spirit was panting for all along. They will be drenched in love. Drenched in love. Spiritual knowledge of you is an exciting knowledge. The more they know of you, the more they will want to know you. The higher they climb, the loftier the summit they will be invited to. They will want more as they get more. Spiritual knowledge of you is a happy knowledge. It will be so elating it will carry them over trials, doubts, and sorrows. And while they enjoy it, it will make them something more than human, but immortal for a purpose. Amen! TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS CROSS Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 13-15; Luke 8:29-56 Tuesday, April 9 John 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. Son of God, Savior of Man: Not one dream of a prophet was left unfulfilled. The entire buildup Bible of promises, prophecies and types were completed in one holy person. You had to be a prophet like Moses, yet a champion like David and a Captain like Joshua. You had to be an Aaron without his human failings, and a Melchizedek without his heavenly aloofness. You had to be Noah and Jonah, a Judah and Joseph. You had to be both the lamb that was slain and the scapegoat that was sent away. You had to be the sacrifice, but also the altar, the tabernacle, the mercy seat, and the shewbread. On the surface, the prophecies were so apparently contradictory they thought there was no way they could all meet in one manMessiah. All nations shall serve him (Ps 72:11), and yet he is despised and rejected of men (Isa 53:3). If the greatest geniuses of all the centuries tried to work out this problem, and tried to invent one key to unlock all the types and prophecies simultaneouslyone unified equation of the universethey could not have done it. The hieroglyphs traced by Moses in the wilderness would still be unexplained Jesus, if you had not come when you did, lived as you did, and proclaimed, It is finished. The cross of Christ and the Son of God is my solution! Blessed Savior! In you I see all my lifes riddles resolved. Everything is accomplished in you. There is fulfillment, and the happiness that comes from perfect completion. Help me trust more in your providence now that I have contemplated your plan! Help me have more faith in your work in me by your Spirit, more distrust of my work for myself, and more glory to your name. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 22-24; Luke 10:1-21 Friday, April 12 Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Blessed Lord and Gracious Savior: You give us a mighty weapon in prayer, and yet we allow it to rust. You give us that which is as mighty as yourself, and yet we let it lie dormant. What can we say for ourselves when you give us matchless access to your thronewhich means matchless power, blessing, and merciesyet that power lies latent because we have not approached your throne, and, when ye pray, believe! To us your people you give a gift better than sun, wind or life. Yet we forget that we wield this power. We are defeated and our banner trails in the dust because we have not acknowledged you by praying, and, when ye pray, believe! This is the key. It is not our prayer itself that prevails; it is the acknowledgement of the one who is Almighty that matters. So, when ye pray, believe! We confess before you that we were armed and carried bows, and yet turned our backs in the day of battle! Our spirit has not been moved to pray. We have neglected to wrestle and strive with you until the blessings comethe early and latter rains of your mercy. So you tell us, when ye pray, believe! The church had an early rain in the books of Acts. It is now the latter days, the end of the age, and time for a latter rain of your Spirit in our midst once again! We trust you for this. We claim it by faith. We seek your face because you are always ready to hear. And, when ye pray, believe! Let every vein of our hearts be filled with the rich blood of desperation. We will remember your promises and plead your attributes, and then you will give us our hearts desire. We believe you to be more willing to answer than we are ask. Now work Lord, so others may see and be astonished. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 16-18; Luke 9:1-31 Wednesday, April 10 Rev. 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. Almighty Father: I REMEMBER. I remember from what I have fallen. I remember the prayers, the consecration I had to you, and I compare it with my present state of lukewarmness. If I have fallen that far, who is to say how low I might end up falling? I REPENT. The word so needful to sinners is also appropriate to me. I have wronged my first love by leaving him. Jesus is not less fair than he was when I first trusted him. He does not love me less than he did then. He has not been less kind or good than he used to be. Have I outgrown him? Can I do without him? I ought to love you today more than I ever loved you at my best. How ungrateful! I repent. I repent of the good I left undone for lack of love. I repent of the praise I have not given because I was not more full of love toward you. How badly I have behaved! I repent. I RETURN. You dont tell me to repent and return to my first love. You tell me to repent and do the first works. It is only the first works that prove in a practical way I have truly repented and come back to my first love. Do not let me be satisfied with regrets and resolutions. I dont need to strain after refeeling the first emotions. Feelings are fickle. If my life is right, my love will prove to be fine. In fact, it is in doing the first deeds that my heart gets straightened out! I can heal the heart-woundedness with good works toward you. I dont want to feel old feelings; I want to do first works! Make me as eager, generous, zealous and prayerful as ever. Do this to Jesus glory, for if I am willing to break the alabaster box, then I know my love has returned. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 25-27; Luke 10:22-24 Saturday, April 13 Psa. 104:34 My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD. Lord and Mighty Father: You deserve my unceasing praise for what you have done. You would be glorious even if we were all dead, but how much more glorious are you by what you have done for us in your wisdom, goodness and power. How much glory should you have by my praise and adoration! Here and hereafter I will praise the Lord. The theme is endless and remains forever fresh and new. The birds sang your praises before people were created, but the redeemed will sing your glories when birds are no more. Jehovah, be exalted in my songs. I sing so much better when I recognize the part I play in your plan, and in the good things you produce. Meditation is the heart of religious affection. It is the tree of life in the middle of my garden. Its fruit is refreshing to my soul as I feed on it. The fat of the sacrifice was your portion, Lord. So are my best meditations due and acceptable to you. Psa. 105:4 Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore. Since you authored and authorized all my blessings, you get all my praise. To worship you and seek your kingdom is the only way to happiness for me. Indeed, there is no other. There must be a blessing in seeking, or else I would not be told to do it. To seek your face is to seek your smile. First I seek you, then your strength for me, then your face and favor. From personal reverence, I pass-on to imparted power, and finally reach conscious favor. The seeking must never cease. The more I know you the more I seek to know. You seek worshippers, and spiritual worshippers always seek you. Bring me together with you this weekend, in Jesus holy name. Amen.

A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 19-21; Luke 9:32-62 Thursday, April 11 Rom. 15:7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.

DEPTH of mercy! Can there be mercy still reserved for me? Can my God His wrath forbear; me, the chief of sinners, spare? I have long withstood His grace, long provoked Him to His face, Would not hearken to His calls, grieved Him by a thousand falls.
I have spilt His precious blood, trampled on the Son of God, Filled with pangs unspeakable, I, who yet am not in hell! I my Master have denied, I afresh have crucified, And profaned His hallowed Name, put Him to an open shame. There for me the Savior stands, shows His wounds and spreads His hands. God is love! I know, I feel; Jesus weeps and loves me still. Now incline me to repent, let me now my sins lament, Now my foul revolt deplore, weep, believe, and sin no more. INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
