The Ways That Information Technology Can Improve Companys Productivity and Profitability
These are the ways information technology can help increase productivity and profitability in business.
The past few decades has seen huge changes in the world of Information Technology and some strong increase in productivity and profitability as a result and computer technology have change the way we work and have allowed us to be more productive on the job. 1. Working more efficiently: Advances in informatin technology now allow all paper documents to be scanned into a central database where a single employee can easily search for the records that are needed by the organisation within few minutes. Work that once required an office full of employee can now be accomplished by one or two dedicated worker. 2.Worker performance: Information Technology improves employees performance by allowing quick access to the information needed to make important work decision. Better decision making by managers and employees translates into higher profit and lower costs. 3. Peer-to-peer networking or P2P: Business owners can use this tool to share files with other companies and suppliers so as to improve their supply chain and procurement process. A company and its suppliers can communicate using web services, for example, updating each others inventory and catalogues which can then be integrated with thier respective ERP systems. This type of integration cut costs, increase productivity and reduces human error. 4. Working from anywhere: Employees who were once forced to spend an hour or more each day communicating to a distant office, can now log on and work from the comfort of their homes. Remote access has a long way in a relatively short period of time, and the stability of the new products allows workers to be just as productive--or even more so--than they will be in the office. DISTINGUISH BETWEEN ALL THE LANGUAGES AND DRAW CONCLUSION ON WHICH ONE BEST SUITS YOU. Programming languages are set of key works, symbols and rules for constructing statement by which programmers can communicate instructions to be executed by computers. The evolution of programming language is typically discussed in terms of generation of languages. First generation language: This is the first computer program which were written in machine language and consist of long strings of "ones" and "zero" which computers can deal with but are very difficult for human to understand. Machine language also vary according to make of computers, another characteristic that makes them hard to work with. Second generation language: This generation contains assembly language which has clear understanding over the one's and zero's of machine language because they use abbreviations or mnemonics. They are easy for human beings to remember. Third generation language: This language have the capacity to support structured programming, which means that they provide explicit structures for branches and loops. In addition because they are the first language to use English-like phrasing, sharing development between programmers are also easier. This language includes FORTRAN,COBOL,BASIC,Pascal. Problem oriented: the third generation languages are valuable but they required training in programming. The higher level language require little special training on the part of the users. Fourth generation language: These are mostly special purpose programming language that are easier to use than all the other languages. The programmers can create applications rapidly and also developed prototypes of an application quickly. In exchange for its capability to work rapidly, programmers have proved willing to sacrifice some of the flexibility available with the earlier languages. This languages are also database which includes forms and dialogues boxes for inputting data into database, querying the database for information and reporting. This generation also includes visual basic, application-specific and an authoring environment. Fifth generation language: This includes artificial intelligence and expert system. These systems are intended to think and anticipate the need of their users, instead of just to execute a set of command. Although these systems are turning out harder to develop than as originally expected. Experts claim that systems such as neural networks will soon work out and give appropriate response just as human do. With the notes given on all the languages we can now conclude that the fourth generation is the best among all, because its special purpose programming language that are easier to use than all the other languages and are also database and visual basic. With all these advantages over the other languages, we can now recommend for any company.
