Business Cards
Description: This is the front and back of a business card that I created for my
fictional Communications company.

Date: February 28, 2013 Course/ Instructor: Comm 130, 02 - Eric Lybberts Program(s)/ Tools: Adobe InDesign and Illustrator Objectives: Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Design
consistent layouts for a business card. Use the basic tools of Illustrator & InDesign.

Process: I started my making the logo in Illustrator by making a black background

and placing an orange square in front of it. I then placed a black letter G in front of it to make it appear as if the G was blending into the black background. I then pulled the logo into InDesign and made two 3.5 by 2 inch boxes to be my business cards. I placed the logo in the upper left corner and using text boxes I placed all the contact information in the lower right corner.

Website
Description: This is a web page that I created using CSS and HTML to
represent the fictional company that I created for my business card and letterhead.

Date: March 15, 2013 Course/ Instructor: Comm 130, 02 - Eric Lybberts Program(s)/ Tools: Text Wrangler and Photoshop Objectives: Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a web page. Write

content to describe the process of creating your logo and how it appeals to a target audience. Design a web page using HTML to display the logo and content. Acquire a working knowledge of HTML and basic understanding of CSS. Identify hex colors for web design. Compress multiple files in a zipped folder to attach as one file.

Process: Using Text Wrangler I edited an existing Html page and chaged the

paragraphs and lists to fit the format I desired. I then changed all the written text to be about my logo. Again using text Wrangler I edited an existing CSS page to match my logo. I then linked the CSS page into my Html document. The description of my logo is 221 words.

Photo Montage
Description: Thtis was my second little venture into Photoshop. Here I
learned how to blend images together.

Date: Februarry 14, 2013 Course/ Instructor: Comm 130, 02 - Eric Lybberts Program(s)/ Tools: Adobe Photoshop Objectives: Learn to manage Photoshop layers. Learn to blend images
together smoothly, using masks. Use filters. Apply appropriate typography.

Process: First I selected the background image and made it an 8.5 by 11.

Then using the lasso tool I then cut out a section from the second image and dragged it on top of the background image. Then using a maks and the paint brush tool I was able to make a gradual blend between the two images. I was also able to do this by changing the opacity of the inserted image and the opacity in the paint brush. I then added a Diffuse Glow filter to the inserted image. Lastly I used two text boxes to insert text with two contracting fonts into the image.

Logos
Description: These are a varity of logos that I created that could
represent my fictional Communications company

Date: February 23, 2013 Course/ Instructor: Comm 130, 02 - Eric Lybbertsv Program(s)/ Tools: Adobe Illustrator Objectives: Create a variety of logos to fit a company or personal image.
Use the basic tools of Illustrator.

Process: At first this project was really frustrating because I knew

nothing about Adobe Illustrator. But after I received some tutoring help it became really fun! I started by making the camera using rectangle tool with rounded corners to make the body and the button and flash for my camera. Using the circle tool I created the camera lens by making three circles that were slightly smaller than its predecessor. I alternated the circle colors between black and white to give it that lens look. I then, using the selection tool, moved the camera to the stem of the letter G to make it appear as if it were connected to the letter.

Pamphlet
Description: This is a pamphlet I made trying to help give myself or
anyone who reads it an idea of fun thing to do in Rexburg during the summer.

Date: March 30, 2013 Course/ Instructor: Comm 130, 02 - Eric Lybberts Program(s)/ Tools: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Word, and
Google Images.

Objectives: Set up and align a two-sided, folded document. Create an

original company logo and use it in a brochure. Incorporate quality images.

Process:

I found the images on Google and saved them to my project folder. I then placed two of them in Photoshop and using the selection tool edited out the sides of the picture to make a text wrap more attractive. I then opened an InDesign document placed rulers and guides where my folds were going to be on my document. I then created an attractive layout to try and display the many fun things that can be done this summer in Rexburg, ID.

Imaging
Description: This is my first venture into Photoshop. I captured the
image myself and then played with it.

Date: February 8, 2013 Course/ Instructor: Comm 130, 02 - Eric Lybberts Program(s)/ Tools: Adobe Photoshop and a Sony Camera Objectives: Learn basic photography skills. Use a digital camera to take

a quality image, then download it. Size and crop the image. Adjust image brightness, contrast, hue and saturation levels. Use a selection tool to isolate a portion of the image. Desaturate the selected portion of the image. Use a filter or colorize a portion of the image.

Process: I took my picture picture using a Sony camera that I rented from

the BYU-Idaho Library. I took this picture following the rule of thirds and getting a downward angle. I then took my image into Photoshop and cropped it to a 66 inch square. I then selected the background using the quick selection tools and desaturated everything but the statue in the image. Lastly I used the Textureizer filter on the background.

Event Ad
Description: This is a fictional ad that I created in an effort
to create an ad that would catch someones attention and hopefully persuade them to come. This one in particular was for a BSA charity event.

Date: February 1, 2013 Course/ Instructor: Comm 130, 02 - Eric Lybberts Program(s)/ Tools: Microsoft Word, and epson Scanner, and
PDF@JPG.net (PDF converter)

Objectives: Find, scan and import a high-quality image. Create a

ull-bleed design. Use text boxes for layout in Word. Insert and edit images in Word.

Process: I scanned my image into Word. I then used the publishing

layout to help me design better in Word. I created the boxed background by drawing boxes and using the color palette to create the blue boxes. I use a color dropper to capture the gray sky and color some of the boxes the same color. I followed the design principals of proximity, alignment, repetition, contrast, and flow to guide my design process.

Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout. Retrieve image and logo from links on this page. Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links together.
