document behind the scenes TASK

TASK : Many photographers now use video to showcase their work giving viewers an insight into their process and style of work. This is then used to advertise and gain new clients. Also an additional skill set to have. Watch this video on VIMEO - http://vimeo.com/ 52315925 called Portrait by Andy Newman The video is a documentary about different photographers and their processes. After viewing this and other similar videos listed on this sheet, go out with another student on the module and shoot a similar video which identifies your process. The video does not have to be long 5 mins max but needs to portray the photographer and how they shoot and use their camera on location. You will need to both plan ahead and think about location, type of shot taken including any props etc. A tripod would be good for the filming aspect. Could discuss your camera, light, lens, framing, location, subject and why you love photography? You have control over your video the other student is just working to your instructions. OPTION - Take photos instead and create a photo essay? some of you might not be confident with video but it is an excellent extra skill to have. Timelapse Photography would also work well or a combination of all? Resources:

NOTE:

- Promoting your work as a photographer

task
TASK

All photographers advertise themselves and their services. It is vital that a photographers work is seen in as many places as possible both online and offline. Even if they have a website they still require offline advertising. Websites, business cards, flyers, photo-books, prints, connecting with social media - twitter, facebook, linkedin, flickr etc
Research and study various formats for advertising your photography. These will come in handy for your end presentation of your work in this module. You have to present your final 30 photographs in a professional way. It is also important for you to research different kinds of photography and photographers - fine art, documentary, fashion etc as they all have different ways of advertising. You will then have to plan and implement your own promotional campaign.
