Healthy!!!
A key element of the wellbeing area is Mubadalas Tennis in Schools, providing professional tennis coaching and equipment to schools across the UAE. Mubadala Community Training Nights are a series of free coaching clinics for people of all ages in Abu Dhabi. Both programs offer valuable lessons about healthy lifestyles and exercise.

Girls allowed
If you wear a tennis dress or skirt, choose one that is light and comfortable. And get a ball clip to attach to the waistband.

How to play
When you enjoy training, you will do it better because you are in a better mood
Where do I stand?
Two players stand on diagonally opposite sides of the net. One is the server; the other the receiver.
15-30-40
The first point scores 15. The second point is 30 and the third 40. If you win the next point, youve won the game.
Deuce
This is when the score is balanced at 40-40.
What if I miss?
If you fail both times, it is a double fault and you lose the point. If the first serve hits the net but lands in the correct box, you still have two more chances. The first shot in each game is the serve. The server hits the ball over the net towards the opposite service box
Advantage
Who ever wins the next point aftr deuce has the advantage and must win another point to win the game.
Can it bounce?
service box
OUT!
The server stands behind this line to start each game. This line marks the back boundary of the court
IN!
The inner tram-line marks the edge of the court for singles matches, the outer line is for doubles
The ball must not bounce more than once after each shot, but you can hit it before it bounces which is known as a volley.
Break point
When you have a chance to win a game against the serve.
Sets
Tennis matches last for three or five sets. To win a set, you must win at least six games and be two ahead of your opponent.

Tennis skills
You have to commit yourself, whether its doing homework or practicing on the court
Power play!
Its time to get out on the court and start hitting some shots
forehand
Step 1
A forehand is a shot that is hit when the ball comes to your natural side (on your right if you are right handed, left if youre left handed).
Step 2
Pull the racket back before the ball bounces on your side of the court. Watch the ball closely as it comes close.
backhand
Step 1
A backhand is hit when the ball comes to your less natural side. Hold the racket with one or two hands. Pull the racket back, twisting your body slightly. Get in position before the ball bounces on your side of the net.
Step 3
Hit the ball at waist height and follow through with a big, sweeping motion.
2
Step 2
Before striking the ball, bounce up on your toes, with your knees bent. Bring your racket across your body in a smooth, sweeping motion, keeping your eyes on the ball. Hit the ball at waist height.
World number six Tomas Berdych knows that you have to learn the basics... Set yourself lots of small goals, and you will you get a sense of achievement when you reach them. Get the basics
correct as early as possible and practice until they become automatic. How you start at a young age is the most important thing. If you develop bad habits, its tough to break them when youre older.

Tennis skills
Mix it UP!
Practice lots of different shots so you can surprise your opponent during matches
Step 3
Keep your eyes on the ball. Think about where you want to hit it. Launch the racket at the ball, making contact at full stretch
hot shots
lob
Hit the under-side of the ball so that it loops up over your opponents head. This shot is hit with less power than others, but make sure you watch the ball and follow through with your swing
serve
Step 1
The serve is used at the start of every point. Stand with both feet behind the baseline. Throw the ball high into the air, slightly in front of you
Step 4
A well-struck serve is difficult for your opponent to hit back. But be prepared for the next shot as soon as the ball leaves your racket, just in case...
half volley
Sometimes when the ball falls close to your feet, you need to hit it soon as it bounces. Keep a stiff wrist and your body position low by bending your knees
at the net
smash
A spectacular shot that is hit above the head, a bit like a serve, usually in response to a failed lob
1
Step 2
Twist to the right if you are righthanded or the left if you are left-handed. Swing the racket behind your back
volley
A shot played before the ball has bounced. Step towards the ball, and punch it back over the net
drop shot
Surprise your opponent with a gentle shot that just about drops over the net. Use a loose grip and short swing

Tennis skills
In a spin?
Spinning the ball will keep your opponent guessing
Topspin
Your racket moves up the ball from bottom to top as you hit it, giving it an extra kick when it bounces
Your racket is the first and most important piece of kit you will buy. You and your racket will become great friends! Take it out to play as often as you can!
Power
A larger racket head will give you more power
Sweet
Backspin
Hit the ball from top to bottom so it spins backwards through the air - this slows it down and gives it a low bounce
Strings
Usually made from polyester or nylon so they last a long time
Frame
Modern frames are made of lightweight carbon fiber
Grip
This is where the racket is held to play different types of shot. Different types of grip include: l Continental (used for serving) l Eastern (for forehand shots) l Backhand (for backhand shots)

What is a calorie?
Healthy living
1kcal
This is a way of measuring how much energy is in your food. Most food packaging lists how many calories are in that product.
How many?
ingredients 1 banana cup of strawberries cup of orange juice cup of ice cup of non-fat yoghurt
As a rough guide, children aged 7-10 should have around 1,900 calories per day. If you have too many, your body will struggle to keep up, and will store the excess as wobbly fat.
burn off
Those of you who play sports can have slightly more calories. This is because you burn off the calories more quickly than people who do not enjoy an active lifestyle. Why not write down the number of calories in the different food you eat to see what contains the most?
HOW TO Put all the ingredients in a blender, put the lid on securely, and whoosh!
Deep sleep releases chemicals into your body that help it to grow! Sleep increases the chemicals that makes you feel full so you wont be so hungry the next day! Sleep helps control your blood sugar level, reducing the risk of diabetes! Without enough sleep, you may suffer bad moods!
Yes, its a bit gross, but check the color of your urine! Is it dark yellow? Orange? Even brown? If so, you have not been drinking enough water!

Hydration and nutrition are two big keys to having a lot of energy when Im on the tennis court.
Rather than a chocolate bar, I have an apple or a banana. Now, I wake up at 7am, feeling great!
I was a vegetarian until I was 16. Later, on vacation in Thailand, I discovered seafood and fish. Today, I eat everything!
My mother taught me to cook, but I can only dream of cooking as well as her!
Ill wake up early and have some fresh fruit. For lunch, maybe a salad with chicken and mango. Fish with rice and steamed veggies in the evening.
I prefer to eat a variety of foods. There are always carbohydrates in my meals, like pasta or rice, and at dinner I include proteins and vegetables.
