Role: Drop-in volunteer - ARC Cancer Support Centre What's Involved? Answer the door/phone. Greet clients and make them feel welcome. Make tea/coffee. Listen and chat and be supportive. Talk through the services available in ARC Cancer Support Centre. Prepare treatment rooms for classes. Ensure the 'drop-in' area is tidy and stocked with refreshments. Where: 559 S outh Circular Road, Dublin 8 When: one day a week for a certain period of time. Role: Ronald McDonald House Volunteers - Ronald McDonald House Charity What's Involved? The RMHC houses at Our Lady's Children's Hospital provide a home-from-home for 20 families whose children are hospitalised or undergoing extended treatment. They would love help with the following: Daily cleaning, cooking, gardening, receptionist, painting & decorating, hairdressing, beauty. Where: Dublin 12 When: Ongoing. Open every day of the week. Role: Summer Project Volunteers - Rialto Youth Project What's Involved? Rialto Youth Project is one of Dublin's Leading Youth Organisations and is now recruiting volunteers for a range of summer project activities during the month of July. *Why Volunteer? *To make a positive difference to a child/young person's summer experience *To share your knowledge and skills *To be challenged *To develop new skills *Meet new people and be part of a great team *To have fun *Personal satisfaction and the feel good factor *Keep your C.V up to date *Closing date is May 3rd Where: Rialto and on excursions When: Full week for one week in July Role: Hairdresser - Open Heart House What's Involved? Basic Hair cuts both male and female. No colouring required in this post. *Open Heart House is the largest HIV & AIDS support service in Ireland with over 1000 members nationally. Where: 2 St. Mary's Place, Dublin 7 When: Minimum of 1 year. 3-4 hours per week Role: Support Worker - Music Matters Community Choir What's Involved: To assist choir members. This can include accompaniment to and from public transport, setting up the rehearsal venue, organising the tea break, and singing with the choir! Music Matters is an inclusive community choir in Dublin. Community choirs welcome singers of all abilities. Where: Choir meets in Dublin City Centre When: 4 hours per week: Wednesday evenings 6.30-10pm. Role: Ripple Maker - See Change, National Stigma Reduction Partnership What's Involved: Here at See Change, we passionately believe in the power of communities and individuals from every walk of life working together to challenge the stigma of mental health problems. - - We are looking for volunteers to help roll-out See Change's stigma-challenging campaigns on the ground and create that ripple effect in your family, circle of friends, town, community, workplace or college. Ripple Makers can host their own initiative to start a conversation about mental health or support the campaign's activity at a community level. - - - The role of a Ripple Maker: Act as an additional resource to the See Change campaign; Participate and represent See Change at events; Increase our engagement with local communities; and Advise us on the direction of our campaign. Where: Ripple Makers will work in their local area. When: we would ask that you engage in 1 campaign activity a year. Role: Collectors needed for World MS Day - MS Ireland What's Involved: Multiple Sclerosis Ireland is the only national organisation providing information, support and advocacy services to people with MS and their families. World MS day 2013 takes place on Wednesday 29th of May. We are currently looking for volunteers to help with our MS Bucket Collection in Grafton Street on the 29th May between 10am and 6pm.
