Executive Board Application for 2013-14


This application is due Sunday, April 14th, 2013 by 5pm, NO late applications will be considered. PLEASE EMAIL APPLICATION TO rha@learnlink.emory.edu. Title this document RHA Exec Board Application-YOUR NAME You are only eligible to serve on the RHA Executive Board if you are going to live on campus next academic year and are available for meeting Mondays 6 7:30 pm. Please describe any previous experience you have had within RHA, ResLife, and/or the specific position to which you are applying. 2. Please describe your reasons for applying to the RHA Executive Board. 3. Since all jobs within RHA are multifaceted, everyone gets to help with both programming and advocacy. Please give us an example of a program or advocacy idea (or both) you would like to see implemented within your first position choice. 4. Please describe how you would successfully serve and fulfill your first desired position. Please discuss any ideas, events, initiatives, or ideas you may have. 5. Please list any other clubs, organizations, or athletic teams to which you belong, and the expected time commitment for each during the 2013-2014 school year. Interview Availability: Include your available times to interview on the following days: Tuesday, April 16th (4:00PM- 8PM) Wednesday, April 17th (4:00PM- 8PM) Thursday, April 18th (4:00PM- 8PM) Friday, April 19th (4:00PM- 8PM) Please include times for ALL dates, as we may not be able to interview everyone on the same day. We will contact you as soon as possible telling you when your interview will be. If appointed, plan on being at the RHA Executive meeting on Monday, April 29 at 6:00pm in Few MPR. Meetings are held EVERY Monday at 6:00pm (and run for about an hour to an hour and a half) during the academic year. If you cannot attend these meetings, please do not apply.

RHA Executive Board Appointed Positions All officers Attend weekly executive board meetings Mondays at 6pm (meetings run for about an hour to 1 ) Mentor respective Hall Council Positions Participate in the planning and the execution of all executive board-sponsored events Support and promote all campus-wide RHA events Secretary/Training Record and publish minutes, and take attendance for all RHA meetings Maintain a roster of all Exec Board members and hall presidents. Facilitate communication among all RHA Executive Board members (this includes weekly reminders) Plan and coordinate training for new hall council executives (EURHA) Serve as the liaison to the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH) In charge of putting together End-of-Year report for College Council. Publicity Chair Coordinate publicity for all RHA Executive Board events & Dooleys Bowl events (create flyers) Coordinate distribution of publicity materials for all RHA campus-wide events (includes flyering) Maintain communication with hall council publicity coordinators Increase awareness of RHA on Emory campus Maintain RHA website, Use electronic media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to advertise for RHA Volunteer Programs Chair Responsible for organizing all volunteer programs (eg. Emory Cares Day, Blood Drive, RHA Sandwich Drive) Assist hall councils with volunteer programs Business Services Chair Maintain vendor relations (phone, email, meetings on campus, etc.) beginning over the summer Negotiating contracts with vendors; Create, organize, and oversee Executive Board fundraisers Address parent and student complaints regarding services provided by RHA Assist hall councils with fundraising ideas Sports/Spirit Chair Plan and coordinate RHA sports-related programs (Homecoming carts and Super Bowl party) Promote attendance at Emory Athletic events Promote enthusiasm in all hall councils and Emory as a whole Assist hall council sports coordinators with co-hall and intramural efforts Dooleys Bowl Play a leading role in the Dooleys Bowl Committee (includes weekly meetings with your committee) Planning of monthly Dooleys Bowl events Assist publicity coordinators with encouragement of programs Promote enthusiasm in all hall councils and Emory as a whole Sustainability Chair Coordinate sustainability efforts in the residence halls (Earth Month and Earth Week) Serve as a liaison with the Office of Sustainability Initiatives Support Sustainability Chairs on hall councils Special Events Chair Assist in planning and execution of Executive Board programs and projects (Community Dinners) Provide support for the Vice President of Programming (Crystal Apples and Last Lectures) Work in collaboration with Residence Life staff who facilitate the SYE (Second Year at Emory), Junior Year at Emory and Senior Year at Emory programs in Residence Life
