Transforming Your
LEARNING EXPERIENCE
Blended Learning
LEARN ANYTIME, ANYWHERE Blended Learning is one of the innovative ways of transforming our students learning experience here at Taylors College. It is a teaching and learning method that is often mediated with the usage of computers or other advanced technologies like iPads, tablets or smartphones, used as learning tools. As such, teaching and learning can now take place outside the classrooms and at flexible hours. Classroom hours are now combined with interactive online learning systems such as Moodle, Edmodo and various iPad apps that allow a richer and more effective learning experience.
technology
Edmodo a platform used to connect both students & teachers, allowing learning and interaction to take place outside the classroom.

Each student has their preferred learning style - kinesthetic, auditory, visual or a combination.
Personalised Learning
MAKING LEARNING EFFECTIVE FOR YOU
learning styles
With a vision to make learning more effective and efficient, we have personalised our teaching and learning for you. The Taylors learning environment is one that caters to the needs and aspirations of unique individuals, as no two individuals are the same. Understanding that every student comes with multiple intelligences (linguistic, logical, bodily-kinesthetic, spatial, interpersonal, intrapersonal, musical, naturalist and existential) and also different learning styles be it visual, auditory or kinesthetic teachers offer various teaching methods to meet students needs
and preferred learning style, enabling them to learn more effectively. With support from tools like the iPad, students are able to understand their subject matter using multiple senses sight, sound and touch/movement. This makes their learning a more personal one in which they are able to better connect with the content at hand. The iPad also allows students to obtain information at a touch of their fingertips, improving student engagement in the classroom, and in turn enhancing their comprehension, thinking and creative skills.

Collaborative Learning
STUDENTS LEARN BEST FROM INTERACTION
collaboration
We believe that students learn best through interactions with one another. As such, Collaborative Learning is a common learning culture amongst our students. Taylors classroom set-up consists of table and chairs arranged in cluster format to help facilitate this kind of learning. With help from their peers, students will debate, share resources, solve problems as a team, sharpen and also motivate one another which inculcates a wider worldview and critical thinking as well as teamwork. At Taylors, peer-to-peer tutoring is another initiative that helps students learn from one another and demonstrate mastery when they are able to comprehensively teach a subject.

IB World School
At Taylors College Sri Hartamas (TCSH), we are proud to be one of the only five IB World Schools in Kuala Lumpur, offering three pre-university programmes including the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in a college environment. As an IB World School, we understand the values behind the IB Philosophy thoroughly. Thus, we endeavour to transfer its unique educational essence in a quality and consistent manner not only to our IB students but throughout the teaching and learning here at TCSH. With an awesome track record of success through our many years of teaching pre-university, Taylors is a brand that is synonymous with the highest quality and commitment in education. Our Sri Hartamas campus is a proud testament to that fact. The IBDP philosophy is one that encourages openness in communication and liberation of the mind and the campus is designed to reflect that. Students will find plenty of open spaces that promote the exchange of ideas and a host of interactive facilities that encourage participation at every level, just as the IBDP course demands. The highly-committed and qualified teaching staff also contributes to the successes of the programme. With an overall average of 16 years of experience in teaching, as well as being experts in their subject areas, they are well-trained IB teachers with diverse university qualifications.

REVOLUTIONARY APPROACH TO LEARNING The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) was designed in 1968 as an academically-challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepare students for success at university and towards their chosen profession. With a flexible coursework that gives students and teachers alike more independence, students will be equipped with values and skills needed to become progressive and responsible global citizens. THE CORE DIFFERENCES The three course components that makes IBDP different are the Theory of Knowledge (on the nature and limitations of knowledge), the Extended Essay (a 4,000-word research paper) and the Creativity, Action, Service (a series of activities enabling students to enhance their personal, interpersonal, social and civic development). SHAPING ALL-ROUNDERS
IBDP
Since 2009
In addition to the three core requirements, all students must study six subjects (one from each group), including English, a second language, social sciences, experimental sciences, mathematics and arts. The academic breadth and depth of the IBDP, together with its core requirements, give IB graduates a competitive edge in university pools of applicants worldwide. SUBJECTS OFFERED
An IBDP student will take 6 subjects from a choice of 10 subjects in 6 groups: Group 1: English A1 (HL & SL) Group 2: French ab initio (SL) Group 3: Business and Management (HL or SL)/ Economics (HL or SL) Group 4: Biology (HL or SL)/ Chemistry (HL or SL)/ Physics (HL or SL) Group 5: Mathematics (HL or SL)/ Mathematical Studies (SL) Group 6: Theatre (HL or SL)

INTERNATIONAL REPUTATION SAM at Taylors has an international reputation as the most successful programme in the world. Many of our graduates have gained entry into top-notch universities in countries like Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, India and more. CHARACTER BUILDING THROUGH COMPREHENSIVE CURRICULUM The SAM curriculum places emphasis on a balanced assessment, developing lifelong learners and emphasising communication and development of good character. Students are groomed to think and develop original and practical solutions to real-world problems and will subsequently fit well into the society as professionals and knowledge workers. UNIQUE BLENDED ASSESSMENT SYSTEM SAM is designed to help students develop the skills they need to succeed; college-based assessments make up 70 per cent of the final marks and external examinations make up the other 30 per cent. This system allows students to take ownership of their own academic progress. From this, students gain hands-on experiences and become more self-directed in obtaining knowledge and managing their time. The college-based assessments are moderated by a panel of the SACE Board of South Australia for quality assurance. BEYOND CLASSROOM LEARNING Learning also takes place outside the classroom as students are encouraged to embark on adventure trips, excursions and participate in activities that bring a positive impact on the community. Community service and environmental awareness are the focus of these activities.

At Taylors College Sri Hartamas, our motivation has always been about building student capabilities; encouraging them to discover themselves and realise their fullest potentials. Student-initiated and student-driven projects are the norm and highly encouraged among our students. With wide exposure and hands-on experience, our learners are given the opportunity to develop themselves and explore their capabilities, in turn making them great leaders.
In 2012, the funds raised from Jog For Hope surpassed the initial target of RM7,000 by more than three times with a final total amount of RM29,000, awarded to SPICES (Support for Parents, Infants and Children through Early Services), a non-profit organisation that aids children with development or learning disabilities.

The experience was truly a fruitful one. I have learnt the values of competency, teamwork, communication and trust while organising this event.
Through this event, I felt as if I have grown much more in terms of leadership, confidence and friendships. If given another chance, I would definitely do this all over again.

I have learnt a lot from this project and it has helped me develop skills such as people management and marketing among others. I was also exposed to proposals, sponsorships and much more while organising this project. Most importantly, I have gained more self-confidence and willpower.
I have learnt that there is more to organising a project and that it takes a lot of patience and skills to nurture. Gaining the childrens trust and teaching them something new was the biggest accomplishment ever.

The Taylors Placement Centre is key to ensuring students receive the right information about universities. This includes the timing of applications and familiarity with the nuances of the application system to ensure a smooth application process. Many students from Taylors College have come to study at The University of Sheffield. Many of them have been successful in obtaining not only their first degree; some have been able to secure places for a PhD. I think it goes without saying that students are given a good foundation to continue onto university.
