At the end of the workshop I handed out an evaluation form for everyone to fill out. The form consisted of seven questions: Questions Was the information in this workshop presented in a clear way? Was the information presented useful to you? If so, explain What did you learn that will enhance your classroom instruction? Response Yes (most responded in the same way) Yes, Video was great Yes, to the point
How could the presentation have better suited your needs as a teacher? What suggestions would you offer for the presenter?
Yes Yes as soon as I can get the devices Absolutely Most definitely Yes as soon as I can get my hands on a set Perhaps next year It was perfection Well done It was great More time in the training, but very informative! Offer flexibility Very informative as presented None Great job Make the session longer Do a variety of examples besides multiple choice Do not stand in front of the screen Loved it
I wanted to use it in my classroom right away to help guide modifications I needed to know how to set up ActivExpression I was interested Needed to learn the basics I wanted to know how to use them I would like to utilize this teaching practice in my classes I plan to use more technology in my classroom I want to start using this technology I love technology and want to update in my classroom I wanted to know new ways to engage students.
After reading through each feedback form, the positive elements of my presentation were clear. It also helped identify ways that I could enhance the experience. If time was not an issue, I could see this type of workshop having multiple aspects to it. There could be a session where each teacher would bring their laptop, collaborate with other teachers, and actually create useable questions to be used during a lesson. This could happen horizontally through each grade level and subject. Other advanced techniques could be taught to enhance the experience when using the ActivExpression. Another point that would make the experience better would be to conduct it not in a regular ed classroom, but in a computer lab where the Active Inspire software was installed. Then each participant could practice using the question wizard and building on the fly questions. This would allow them to actually experience question building while it is being taught to them.
