>>>>>>>>> Thank You >>>>>>>>> Thank you for responding to the survey in the last issue of the PEN newsletter. Your comments were most helpful, and were passed on to the powers that be in Washington. In a few cases, responses indicated a misunderstanding of MCI Mail features, and future issues of PEN will address these. However, nearly every response indicated that MCI Mail was working well, and Oppenheimer Software was providing all needed support. We're glad to hear that. >>>> CA$H >>>> ----CONTINUED NEW SUBSCRIBER SPECIAL----(This one puts CA$H in your pockets) Do you know someone who wants to subscribe to MCI Mail? You may be interested communications software "MCI MAIL ACCESS" allows you to for transmission.

that you are sending may be reluctant to to know that the encode your messages

Using a coding process based upon the Data Encryption Standard of the National Bureau of Standards, you can ensure the privacy of your MCI Mail. This process generates a meaningless random display of characters that can only be read after a decoding process. When you use "MCI MAIL ACCESS" to send the document, you enter a privacy code of your choice. Your correspondent uses "MCI MAIL ACCESS" to download the document, entering the same privacy code so that "MCI MAIL ACCESS" saves it in a form that can be read. You can purchase "MCI MAIL ACCESS" for only $49.95 by calling Oppenheimer Software at 212-787-2416 or contacting us at MCI ID# 218-0241.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sharing your distribution lists >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Do you keep distribution lists on MCI Mail? If you dont, maybe you should... there is no charge to store them. If you have a library of distribution lists, chances are that others in your office like to "borrow" your lists. Now you can "publish" your list, and share them with other MCI Mail subscribers. Only the people that you authorize can use your List. Each time a message is addressed to the Shared L ist, MCI Mail checks the associated Access List to see if the user is authorized. When you publish a Shared List, you may allow the authorized users to enjoy use of the Shared List free of charge. Or, you may require that the user pay for delivery charges whenever the Shared List is used. The FIND command can now be used to identify a Shared List. Basic Service users type FIND at any menu ( a new menu will appear offering LIST as one of the choices). Advanced Service users type FIND LIST at Command. You will then be prompted for the Shared List name. If you can't remember the full name of the Shared List, type at least the first word of the name. For more details, type HELP SHARED LIST. If you are an Advanced Service user, you can have Shared List capabilities added to your account. Call Customer Support at 800-424-6677, in Washington, DC call 833-8484.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Subject: Access Line Savings With TYMNET >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> If you are currently using the WATS 800 number to access MCI Mail, you can now save over 65% by accessing MCI Mail through TYMNET access numbers available in over 500 cities across the U.S., including Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. You don't need an account with TYMNET. Connect-time charges at the rate of $.05 per minute will appear on your MCI Mail invoice. And, you can use the same 300 or 1200 baud Bell-compatible modem that you now use. Or use a 1200 Vadic compatible modem. Or, dial one of 50 designated numbers for 2400 buad access. You do need to follow a slightly different sign-on procedure to connect first with TYMNET, then MCI Mail. For more information and step-by-step sign-on instructions, type HELP TYMNET. And, to make it easier for you to find the number you want, the listings are now by state. Simply type HELP PHONES <STATE> for a complete list of MCI Mail local access numbers and TYMNET local access numbers. Since you must use different procedures to connect through TYMNET, the numbers are clearly identified by titles. Be sure to type HELP TYMNET or HELP TYMNET SIGN-ON for the step-by-step directions for using TYMNET to access MCI Mail.

Type HELP PHONES 2400 for phone numbers and procedures for 2400 baud access. >>>>>>>>>> Correction >>>>>>>>>> In PEN #6, we made a booboo. The text read EMS: COMPUSERVE EMS It should read: To send your message to a CompuServe subscriber: 3. At EMS, type COMPUSERVE and press Return. For example: Enter name of mail system. EMS: COMPUSERVE 288-7782 COMPUSERVE Compuserve Info, Columbus, OH Thanks to a sharp eyed subscriber! >>>>>>>>>>> Telex Hints >>>>>>>>>>> When you send a telex, the ANSWERBACK: prompt refers to the answerback of the telex maching you are calling - not yours. Your telex number and answerback are automatically included with your telex. You should check your mailbox an hour or so after sending the telex to get your receipt. The more frequest reasons for non-delivery include: DER- Receiving machine is wout of order. NA - The number is 'non admissable' (wrong number) OCC- The receiving maching generated a busy signal for 2 hours-try again. ABM- Answerback mismatch. The answerback is optional. If you dont know it, dont enter it. If you are doing frequent telex with a particular party, talk to us about using MCI Mail to replace telex to lower lowering your costs.
