Automated Voting in Riyadh All Set to Start on 13 April


Training of Election Officers Held
The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh will conduct the first automated elections in Riyadh as scheduled after it received eight (8) Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) Machines. It also hosted the training on the Automated Election System (AES) for personnel who will serve as election officials during the elections from 13 April to 13 May 2013. Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Ezzedin H. Tago, announced that the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh is 100% ready to conduct the first automated elections in Riyadh for the Senatorial and Party-list elections from 13 April to 13 May 2013. The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh has received its eight (8) Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) Machines, ballots and other paraphernalia to be used during the automated elections. The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh is among seven (7) foreign service posts that will adopt the Automated Election System (AES) during the 2013 Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) Elections. He invited all registered overseas absentee voters to exercise their right to vote. I invite all registered overseas absentee voters to exercise their right to vote from 13 April to 13 May 2013 and select the next leaders of the country, said Ambassador Tago.

Ambassador Tago "casts" his vote during the mock elections

The conduct of the automated elections follows the training held of personnel who will serve as members of the Special Board of Election Inspectors (SBEIs), Special Ballot Reception and Custody Group (SBRCG) and Special Board of Canvassers (SBOC) during the one-month election period. The training was held at the Embassy on 06 to 08 April 2013. COMELEC Commissioner Elias Yusoph led the delegation from COMELEC, DFA and DOST who conducted the training and certification of the election officers.

The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh invites all Filipinos to visit its website at www.philembassy-riyadh.org and Facebook page to see if their names are included in the Certified List of Overseas Voters (CLOV) for Riyadh and are qualified to vote during the 2013 OAV Elections. The CLOV for Riyadh is also printed and posted at the Embassy premises, and registered voters may check the number of their precinct before proceeding to the location of their precinct to vote.

Filipinos in the Eastern Province may also visit the Embassys website and Facebook page to see if their names are included in the CLOV for Al Khobar and Jubail. Automated elections in Riyadh start at 8:00 AM on 13 April 2013. It will be held at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh from 13 April to 13 May 2013.END.
