3. Application procedure: (1)Applications are accepted between February 1, 2012 and April 30, 2012 (based on postmarks, late applications will not be accepted.) (2) Method of application: correspondence. The application form (Based on postmark needs) needs to be registered mail to Division of Academic Development and Cooperation, Office of Research and Development at 134, Sec. 2, Heping East Rd., Daan District, Taipei City, 10671, Taiwan (R.O.C.) (Please paste Attachment 1 included in these general regulations on the cover of the envelope). (3) Application fees: 1 Application fees: $1,200 NTD or $40 USD per department per person. 2 Methods of payment: Attach the receipt of your wire-transfer to the NTUE account within the application documents (The name of the payee needs to be the same as the applicants.) If the payment is made via bank transfer, please provide a receipt of the transaction. 3 One copy of a Affidavit for admission (Attachment 3). 4 One copy of Application Form for Admission (Attachment 4; please print out the online application form and attach a recent 2-inch bust and hatless photo). 5 One copy of the applicants passport or nationality document. 6 One copy of the document showing the applicants highest completed education or academic equivalency and past transcripts which have been verified by one of Taiwans overseas institutes, offices, or other organizations authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Hereinafter referred as overseas institutes). (If the document is originally written in a language other than Chinese or English, the included translation needs to be verified as well.) If the authorization can not be done by the deadline, please fill out the Affidavit of Document Verification (Attachment 5). 7 One copy of a financial statement proving the applicant has enough funding to study in Taiwan. This can be done using by one of the four following methods: 1 A financial statement provided by an overseas bank showing a balance of $6,500 USD or more in a sealed envelope and sent directly to the university. 2 A financial statement provided by a bank in Taiwan showing a balance of $200,000 NTD or more in a sealed envelope and sent directly to the university. 3 Documents showing the applicant is granted a scholarship. 4 If the account does not belong to the applicant, a financial statement of the applicants sponsor (Attachment 6) and proof of savings needs to be attached. 8 With Chinese Proficiency Test level 2 (or above) or the qualification of other equivalent tests; if there is no qualification attached or the applicant need to improve Chinese ability after the evaluation, extra Chinese course at their own expense is required. This rule will base on the standard of each department. 9 All assigned documents from departments (See the rules on the application of each department.) 10 Applicants address label (To receive ones application results, please download Attachment 7, input with Word, print it out, and attach it to the other documents sent by mail).

Please organize the above documents in an appropriate order, put them in an envelope, and mail it out. (5) Other important notices: 1 After a foreign student is admitted to study in Taiwan, he/she shall be expelled from the university should he/she have his/her household registered in or moved to Taiwan, acquire or restore his/her Taiwanese citizenship, or lose his/her foreign-student status. 2 The applicant can apply to more than one department; however, he/she can only report-in and register one of the departments. 3 An international student of NTUE who has already applied for suspended schooling or delayed schooling cannot re-apply to the same program in the same department. 4 At the time of application, an applicant with foreign educational background needs to submit documents showing his/her highest level of education or academic equivalency. Unless issued by an overseas Taiwanese school, the documents should be processed in accordance with the Regulations Regarding the Assessment and Recognition of Foreign Academic Credentials for Institutions of Higher Education. 5 If the department is applying to have written, oral, or subject-specific examinations, the applicant needs to bring the original copy of his/her passport (or other ID) to the test location on the specified date of the examination. 6 Once an applicants has submitted the applications, he/she is not allowed to change departments or programs or ask for a refund for any reason. No submitted documents will be returned. 7 If the information or documents submitted by a student who has registered or has been accepted is later determined as not meeting the requirements or is faulty, fabricated, unauthentic, altered, or invalid, the applicant will no longer be allowed to take entrance examinations or attend school; and no academic documents of any form will be issued. If the above violations are discovered after the applicant has graduated from NTUE, his/her diploma and credentials will be revoked by public announcement. 8 In accordance with the Department of Health, international students who are taking up residence in Taiwan need to be screened for syphilis, measles, and rubella, or they must provide proof showing that they have received relevant inoculations. In accordance with Article 14 of the Statute for AIDS Prevention and Control, health authorities must screen foreigners who will stay or take residence in Taiwan for 3 months or longer or ask them to provide documents showing that they have undergone AIDS examinations. Those who are found positive in the screening or refuse to undergo screening will be ordered to leave Taiwan. 9 The verification of documents showing the applicants highest level of education in a foreign institute or academic equivalency or the translated version of past transcripts should be done at one of Taiwans overseas institutes, a court of law in Taiwan, or an approved notary within Taiwan. 10 If an international student wishes to take education courses during his/her time at NTUE, he/she needs to submit an application and participate in the relevant examination according to NTUEs regulations. Upon the successful completion of the required education courses, the student may apply to the NTUE Teacher Education and Careers Service Center for a certificate that proves his/her completion of the education courses and serves as a reference for him/her to apply for working as a teacher in his/her own country. However, the student is not allowed to enroll in the 6-month education internship nor participate in the teacher certification examination in Taiwan. His/her application for working as a teacher in his/her own country is subject to the relevant regulations in that location. 4. Review or examination: Conducted in accordance with each departments regulations. 5. Announcement of Acceptance: Names of successful applicants will be announced on the website listed below, and letters of acceptance will be mailed before May 31, 2012. (Website: http://exam.ntue.edu.tw/exm.register/fApp.htm ). The letter stating the result of application is mailed out using the address label (Attachment 7) printed by the applicant. Please make sure the address label is typed using Word. The

applicant is held responsible if the letter cannot be received in time due to any illegible writing of the address. 6. Report-in and Registration: (1) On the date specified by the letter of acceptance, the admitted student needs to report to the Division of Admission, Office of Academic Affairs with the required documents. Those who fail to do so are deemed as forfeiting their enrollment. 1 If the applicants documents such as the diplomas or transcripts submitted at the time of registration have not yet been verified by one of Taiwans overseas institutes, the applicant needs to complete the verification process before the deadline. Those who fail to do so will be denied of his/her enrollment status. 2 At the time of registration, the admitted student needs to provide documents proving he/she has at least 4 months of valid medical and injury insurance. The documents should also have been verified by one of Taiwans overseas institutes. If the student is covered under Taiwans National Health Insurance, he/she needs to provide the relevant documents. 3 Admitted undergraduate students will undergo a physical examination held by NTUE. Admitted postgraduate students need to undergo physical examinations, at their own cost, at a public hospital or health station (Including general physical examinations and a chest x-ray) and provide results. 4 Admitted students also need duplicates of documents proving that they have passed the physical examinations for international students taking residence in Taiwan. (2) The deadline of an admitted student to report-in is the first day of school specified on our School Calendar. Those who fail to report-in on time are deemed as forfeiting the enrollment status. If the student cannot register and start school due to major illness or special circumstances, he/she must apply to the Division of Admission, Office of Academic Affairs before the deadline with relevant documents for delayed schooling. Approved applicants will be allowed to delay schooling for one year; such application can only be made once. Approved applicants can enroll in the following academic year and are treated as new students. 7.
