Introduction Capsules were invented by Mothes & DuBlanc in 1834.The two part hard gelatin empty capsules were invented by J. Clehuby. Capsules are solid-dosage forms that are most commonly composed of gelatine and are designed to contain a drug-containing formulation. Two types of capsule are available Hard Gelatine and Soft gelatine capsules. These differ in both their mechanical properties and in capsule design. Hard gelatine capsules are less flexible and are composed of two pieces, termed the cap and the body.Soft gelatine capsules are more flexible and are composed of a one piece capsule shell.
