Healthy, Wealthy & Wise with Ogbo Awoke Ogbo Today On STV Transcript Email: coaching@giantthoughts.com

Good morning distinguished friends! Its always my pleasure sharing this moment with you on Healthy Wealthy and Wise Today on STV. My name is Ogbo Awoke Ogbo. Family and friends call me Ogbo the Great but my only my wife calls me Sweetheart. Although, she mistakenly calls me Honey whenever I buy honey for the house. Today, you will be excited to learn something that will denitely change the way you look at yourself and the way you spend your time. But before then, I want you to mark May 11 on your calendar. Thats the date of our next executive coaching class. May 11 is the date. Lets talk about what you should know about self efcacy. Each time I see the hundreds of sad faces on the streets, I recall the nursery rhyme I learnt about 40 years ago. Solomon Grundy, Born on a Monday, Christened on Tuesday, Married on Wednesday, Took ill on Thursday, Grew worse on Friday, Died on Saturday, Buried on Sunday. This is the end Of Solomon Grundy. There must be more to life than that of Solomon Grundy but it is never going to happen by luck. You see, each time I have the sad obligation to go to a cemetery for a funeral of someone I knew, I look around at the hundreds of tombs - white stones representing human beings who are no more. People who were once breathing, talking, laughing, eating and drinking like we. Men and women who had their chances. As I look at those tombs, I wonder aloud to myself, How many of these men and women fullled their destiny on earth? How many of them died as happy wives. I wonder how many of them had spent time with their children when they were alive. I wonder if all of those dead people had discharged their daily responsibilities with integrity. I wonder how many unfullled dreams and aspirations lie eternally forgotten in those graves. A few years ago, Gani Fahwehimi, one of the nest gifts God gave this country, was on his death bed in London. In his dying minutes, Gani wept profusely and begged God to give him just one more year to write his memoirs. He cried and cried, but death is unemotional. Those memoirs were never written - gone forever!

Those dead people in the cemetery kept procrastinating exactly the way some of us do today. Procrastination is one of lifes deadliest traps. I wonder how many of them kept telling themselves, One day, I will do this or do that, and that one day never came. During one of our coaching sessions, I asked the participants, What would you do if you learnt that you had only 30 minutes left to live? some said they will spend it praying with their family, others said they will quickly write their will, some say they will make phone calls and ask everyone for forgiveness, others say they will complete one project or the other. You know what? None of them said, I will eat my last pounded yam and vegetable soup with snail. None of them said, I will quickly go and have sex one more time during my last 30 minutes. You see, some things dont matter when its your last one hour on earth. I told the class that if there was anything on their last 30-minute list that they were not currently doing, then there are misplaced priorities in their lives. Im asking you the same question: What you are doing right now, is it what you should be doing in the last 30 minutes of your life? The fact is that we dont know when its going to be the last 30 minutes of our lives. If someone had jokingly told Goldie that she would never seen her 35th birthday, she would have chuckled and said, I reject that in Jesus name! as we normally say in Nigeria. The victims at Kano park bombing left their houses expecting to travel and be with their loved ones in the evening. Wed better make sure we are living accurately, fully engaged with our purpose on earth. Ensure that every second of our lives is spent doing what is important because every tick of the clock takes us closer to our last 30 minutes. Now, what is self efcacy? SE is the belief in your ability to organize and execute the courses of action necessary to achieve your destiny. If one does not do the important things in life, the tendency is to end up like Solomon Grundy. The legendary Bruce Lee said, If you want to be immortal, live a life worth remembering. Be honest with me: is your life worth remembering? Are you condent in your ability to make your life successful? One important application of self efcacy is the track record. Look at those two words very closely. One is track and the other is record. Track means that you have carved out a path on the earths surface. You have done something well so many times and now you have a record. The track always come before the record but many Nigerian youth are trying to have a record without any track. Some young

people are wealthy but you cant pinpoint exactly what made them wealthy. No track record. When you have a track record, people can point to you and say, If you want a private teacher who can make a genius out of your child, talk to Victor. Or, If you want a gynecologist that will treat your wife with utmost professionalism and competence, talk to Dr. Pedro. Why? Because you have established authority. You have established credibility and competence. If you will ever make money or become nancially independent, you must create a track record in something. A life without track record is aimless. Stop pursuing money and start creating track record. Its the track record that brings the money, its not the money that creates track record. As I close, let me tell you something I learnt from Leo Stan Ekeh recently. Both of us were invited to speak at an event. Leo said something I heard for the rst time, something he called personal credibility collateral. He said, If I, Leo Stan Ekeh, ask the bank for $500 million today, I will get it. Why because he has built a personal credibility collateral. Many of us try fruitlessly to get a loan from the bank. The bank wont talk to you when you dont have a track record. Banks are running after Dangote, begging him to take their money. Meanwhile there are people who have been begging the bank for N50,000 but the banks ignore them. In our coaching class of May 11, I will guide you to establish your subject matter expertise and start creating your track record. For reservation and registration information, send your full name and email to the number on the screen. And dont forget to travel with me to Dubai from 24 - 31 May 2013. Until this time next week, my name is Ogbo Awoke Ogbo. I love you; whatever you do be Healthy, Wealthy and Wise!
