Essential Questions
Overarching Questions: How can the use of technology in the classroom setting be integrated for teaching and learning? Topical Questions: How can the utilization of Google Drive promote teacher collaboration? How can the utilization of Google Drive improve classroom instruction?

Knowledge and Skills

Participants will be able to: Create a document, spreadsheet, or presentation after signing into Google Drive from the Google Website Edit created documents online with a community of other invited users. Share a document, spreadsheet, or presentations with anyone he or she chooses. Invite others by email to view and/or edit documents that have been created.

Stage 2- Acceptable Evidence

All teachers will be evaluated on participation in the assessment following the staff development workshop and also their attendance to the workshop. Teachers will be expected to create their own document using Google Drive. This will be the first step to collaborating with their class. They will also have the opportunity to create a document that will be used to promote collaboration among teachers and administrators. The topic of the document can be at the discretion of the teacher. After the presentation of the workshop all participants involved will be asked to complete a survey.

Stage 3- Learning Plan

Activity Description 1. Ask the audience if they would like to learn a new way to collaborate with students and with colleagues? Incorporate technology into their classroom? Assist students with their writing or math in a more collaborative setting? 2. Introduce the essential question, How can the utilization of Google Drive promote teacher collaboration and improve classroom instruction? 3. Show a quick video on YouTube that introduces Google Drive to the participants. 4. Have everyone set up a Google account if they do not already have one. If they do have a Gmail they can continue by logging into Google Drive. 5. Once all participants have a Gmail account and have signed into Google Drive the instructor will show them how to create a new document, spreadsheet, or presentation. 6. Then the participants will be shown how to share their created document with anyone they choose. 7. The instructor will discuss the options when allowing access to a document. The participant has the choice of allowing the other invited users to view or edit the shared document. 8. To give the participants practice with this feature the instructor will have two to three participants partner up to edit a document but first, one of the three have to share their document for editing to the other two participants in the group. 9. The participants will collaborate with one another on the same document to demonstrate how the tool works. 10. The participants will notice that the document saves automatically after changes have been made. 11. After participants have had time to start a document with other participants and see exactly how Google Drive operates the instructor will ask them to identify possible options for using Google Drive in the classroom or with colleagues. 12. The instructor will allow for any questions and hand out the evaluation sheets to be completed. 13. In conclusion to the staff development workshop the instructor will give details of what the participants shall do for their Ticket-Out-The-Door.

10. Additional Comments

Assessment Data and Evaluation of Instruction After reviewing the workshop evaluation forms I concluded that teachers found the information I gave on Google Drive would be beneficial for them in the classroom and in the process of planning with other teachers. The information I presented was helpful and informative to my audience. One of the concerns or setbacks teachers had with using Google Drive is the use of email with the students. Many email providers are blocked in a school system so that was one of their major concerns with using Google Drive. The majority of the teachers present felt that their students and their peers will benefit if they use a web based tool such as Google Drive. They also made comments of wanting additional workshops that introduce other Web 2.0 tools that they have access to. Self-Evaluation of Staff Development Workshop The staff development went very well! I think that the teachers present really enjoyed learning about Google Drive and could see that they were interested in other Web 2.0 tools that are available for instructional tools. Many of the participants had not been introduced to Google Drive prior to this workshop so I was actually excited that I could teach them about this easy to use web based tool. I did not have any difficulties but many of the laptops that the participants were using were not able to connect to the Internet. Thankfully I had printed the PowerPoint slides so they could take notes and they followed along with me and others as they manipulated the features of Google Drive. I was very pleased on how it went and Mrs. Parker asked me to come back and teach them again!
