Current

I am Raja Kuppuswamy, an engineer in qualification, project management expert by experience and training. I am presently employed as Technical Advisor in Emergency Development Infrastructure, Crisis Reconstruction Department (EDID) with IOM Kabul , Afghanistan. Past & Present services with IOM since 2006 is in the emergency reconstruction program of Temporary and Permanent shelter / Camp Management, Schools & Clinics, , Hospitals and Training Centres in Capacity Building. Benefit goes to the Government of Indonesia and Afghanistan and displaced peoples as a whole. Fundings were through USAID , International Red Cross, EC, and Multi donor funds. Having achieved international recognition ( enclosed CV and web site : cmtss.com ) in the emergency , conflict , and post conflict / crisis situation for international Governments , corporations, and international Humanitarian organization ( IOM ). I am capable of overseeing, managing and coordination of any EPC projects /program management with IOM in difficult and challenging environments when given an opportunity. Working in emergency crisis and post crisis situations and engaging in reconstruction (EPC/R) program effort, require some one with excellent skills, knowledge, leadership and good communication qualities to undertake successful implementation of the project. Specifically meeting donors deliverables and stakeholders needs (effected communities and local Governments requirements). This is extremely challenging, motivational and rewarding career passion in contributing to the nation building. This is my goal. My 3 fold approach in Humanitarian services includes Passion, Mission and Achievement. Passion, Having the technical experience and skills in capacity building (training) and construction project management (CPM). I will serve the people / countries in need of experts in the rebuilding their countries during any crises. I have achieved my passion in contributing to present and post disaster community services in dire need of basic infrastructure, shelter and amenities (Malaysia, Indonesia, and Afghanistan) . Mission, My initial deployment in Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 2006 , for earthquake relief mission was followed with post Tsunami in Aceh NAD, Indonesia in 2007 until 2009 , and presently serving in Afghanistan since 2009 which undergoing crisis (War). Presently, as Technical Advisor with IOM Kabul, I am managing and overseeing the reconstruction works for the emergency development and infrastructure department. We are providing engineering and reconstruction services in the Hospitals, Educational and training Facilities projects. Having had 30 years international construction management experience in training, construction supervision, project management and advisory services, I have successfully provided technology transfer and contribution to many local government and non government (INGO, NGO, and IOM) organization good governance in skills and knowledge in post disaster project management . Moreover, I have contributed partially in research and development of sustainable earthquake safe housing project design and construction works (Yogyakarta) with Indonesian university (University of Gajamada, Yogyakarta). Achievement, I have long envisioned working for renowned international and inter-Governmental agencies as Technical Expert and Project Advisor specifically in the project management services. I have achieved this with IOM. I have realized my satisfaction by contributing in countries with pre and post crisis / disaster situation which is now a functional and sustainable developed country, while some undergoing

development phase. My office, field engineers and support staffs have achieved to become project managers for international organizations. Some have attained post graduate degrees and PhDs and became responsible citizen in their own government and corporate bodies. Local construction companies with sub standard construction ethics and brinks of failures became profitable by practicing good governance in managing projects (reference available upon request). Local communities have roofs on their head, basic infrastructure, and sustainable water and sanitation systems functioning. Last, but not least, many peoples livelihood has been restored / sustained with basic capacity building (small businesses, skill training, educational training, etc.) among the local communities.
