COMMUNICATION PROCESS STIMULUS

Stimuli lead to ideas. The stimulus of this communication is the growing demand for gold in Kerala. The consumption of gold remains steady even though the price of gold is rising day by day. Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil nadu is considered as the hubs of gold in India.

ANALYSIS
INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
A survey was conducted by SBT to collect information based on the growing demand for gold . The areas of survey include kerala,Karnataka and tamil nadu as these states are known as the gold hubs of India. Import policies of various banks like axis bank,icici bank etc was thourougly studied to correct all the flaws.

CRITICAL THINKING
Careful analysis is necessary to transform ideas into messages. In this communication an analysis is done to regulate and control the supply of gold to meet the demand and to make it available at ease to large dealers and small dealers.

GOAL SETTING
A seminar is conducted for 20 min where initially a speech is delivered which includes method of import, delivery, credit policies, security measures etc. Each point is explained in detail.

DEVELOPING MESSAGE
DETERMINE PURPOSE
This communication is an attempt to persuade the audience and make them shift from other banks to SBT. I have tried to persuade the audience by promising to extend credit to its customers with minimum interest based on the demand and repayment ability.

SITUATION ANALYSIS
From the surveys conducted by SBT it is clear that Kerala is one among the jewellery hubs of India and consumption of gold in kerala is very high. Only by addressing the prominent jewellers in kerala SBT will get an idea about the quantity of gold required,dinominations of the bullion etc and SBT thinks they are the best crowd to suggest valid points.

MESSAGE DESIGN AND MEDIA SELECTION


Communication is in the form of a speech as there is a face to face interaction and this creates an environment for clarifying the doubts arised.

ENCODING
Encoding is the process of sending a message through a medium destined for a receiver. In this communication the medium chosen is face to face communication in the form of a seminar.

BARRIORS AND CONTROL


Audience will be confused about the security measures but i have mentioned in the spech clearly that SBT plans to introduce a smart card which would include the details of each dealer. This would be individually designed to cover security measures and also include finger print scanning and retina scanning. The most important point is that the gold will be stocked in the nedumbasserry airport counter of SBT where question of secutity does not arise. Audience will be also confused whether the credit will be available to all the clients but it is stated clearly in the speech that credit will be provided based on the demand , volume and repayment ability of the client.

INTRODUCTION

This project is a seminar conducted by an employee of State Bank of Travancore based on the topic Pottentiality of bullion market. Where SBT has decided to import gold from switzerland for all the jewellers in kerala and provide them credit with minimum interest. The target audience for this seminar is the prominent jewellers in kerala. Seminars objects to find the opinion of all the jewellers and to get a feedback about the quantity required by them on a monthly basis.

A warm welcome to one and all present here. The staff and management of SBT would like to thank every respectable respresentives of prominent jewelleries in kerala present here,who were kind enough to accept our invitation for the day. We are gathered here to discuss the pottentiatlity for bullion trade. SBT, a banking major in the Indian market for more than 4 decades have today taken a modest effort to enter the bullion market. Like every organisation it is necessary to specialise and we are today taking an attempt to assess the potentiality for demand which would be based upon the individual requirements. Kerala being a promising market and one of the largest state in relation to gold consumption makes kerala a very attractive market. Tamil nadu and Karnataka are the other two targets of the bank. SBT has for the same purpose tied an

alliance with Union Bank of switzerland to import gold. We are decided to open a counter inside Nedumbassery airport as security will not be an issiue there. And based on the requirement, registered representatives can collect the gold from the airport counter of SBT. Door to door delivery is also provided by SBT, provided the client is ready to bear all the travelling expenses incurred. We understand that gold being attractive business has lot of security concerns. SBT plans to introduce a smart card which would include the details of each dealer. This would be individually designed to cover security measures and also include finger print scanning and retina scanning. Each dealer could register a maximum of three representatives who would be authorised to collect the delivery. The security process would include the security details of the these three representatives. The denominations of the gold will be ranging from 1kg bars to 10 kg bars. SBT initially plans to launch the programme without extending credit to the dealers. It would be cash based settlement but based on the demand, volume and repayment ability of the client.SBT plans to extend credit to its customers with minimum interest . All the tables have a set of questionairs where you need to fill the quantity you require on a monthly basis and please attach your business card on to the questionnaire.this is just to make a rough calculation about the quantity that is to be imported. The target of this Business venture is not for profit initially but SBT aims to get accounts of these prospective clients and their associates who would be offered other products along with the business plan so it is necessarily a business expansion programme of SBT coupled with the new business plan it plans to introduce to the
