Concept of philosophy Philosophy is defined as the study of general and fundamental problems, such as those connected with reality,

existence, knowledge, language and etc. The word philosophy comes from the Greek words philos (love) and sophia (knowledge / knowledge) means the love of science or knowledge or wisdom. The concept of philosophy is interpreted by Sharifah Alwiah Alsagoff (1984) as principles of reality, knowledge and values. It is also a rational approach to a problems or questions. So, over all, philosophy is a thinking or a genuine view, rational and brilliant. Sharifah Alwiah Alsagoff also describe the meaning of education as formal schooling process, training process, indoctrination process, continuous process and an artistic discipline and science. Hence, philosophy of education is guidance, direction or insight on matters related with education. Concept of Education According to the definition given at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education, Education is: Education in the largest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another. In simplest saying, Education is the process of imparting and acquiring knowledge and training to grow ones intellectual and mental capabilities, so as to make mature decisions in different situations, or the act or process of education that leads a person to better understanding of the situations in his life. Dewey said that Education is s a tri-polar process (three poles) where it deals with educator, educand, and society. Since Education is a process, definitely it will have product. In order to fulfill the process, we need to consider the following aspect such as intellect, interest, ability, focus and experience. The final product will be educated individual and enlightened individual. In a nutshell, Education is a process of teaching, training & learning, especially in schools or colleges to improve knowledge & develop skills.

Concept of Philosophy of Education National Philosophy of Education is work as a guideline for all educational activities in Malaysia. Stakeholder Forum existences indirectly boost Malaysia to sit low stand tall with education in developing countries to another. Malaysia's education from pre-school to the tertiary level has its own system that systematically and progressively. For the concept of the National Philosophy of Education, the value and role of knowledge in the development of individuals and their role in the community is the core for the concept. The value of knowledge lies in the truth of the matter which serves not only to inform but also to transform and shape individuals to serve the community. The power of the knowledge is that enable to transform individuals and their networks makes it a very valuable commodity. In Malaysia, education is a lifelong process and man is constantly in need to expand, explore and verify existing knowledge. This idea is inspired by our former Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah Badawi. Furthermore, experience does not only enrich and strengthen knowledge but also re-examine and increase the capacity of existing knowledge possessed by individuals. Moreover, Philosophy of education can refer to either the academic field of applied philosophy or to one of any educational philosophies that promote a specific type or vision of education, and/or which examine the definition, goals and meaning of education. In academic field, philosophy of education is "the philosophical study of education and its problems...its central subject matter is education, and its methods are those of philosophy (Noddings, 1995). It can also be understood not as an academic discipline but as a normative educational theory that unifies pedagogy, curriculum, learning theory and the purpose of education and is grounded in specific metaphysical, epistemological and axiological assumptions. These theories are also called educational philosophies. For example, a teacher might be said to follow a perennialist educational philosophy or to follow a perennialist philosophy of education. In other words, Philosophy of Education is the study of the meaning, purpose and the methods of education or learning and theories related to human development. Beside that, it is also the study of the nature of the knowing mind, the nature of man, the questions of authority and relationship between education and

society. Sources for educational philosophy are life experiences, values, the environment in which people live, interactions with others and awareness of philosophical approaches. In addition, educational philosophy is people beliefs about why, what and how people teach, whom to teach, and about the nature of learning. Simply saying, it is a set of principles that guides professional action through the events and issues teachers face daily.
